Advice on Ford - Escape, Edge & Freestyle
Can anyone provide pluses/minuses on Ford Escape, Edge or Freestyle? We are very interested in these models, especially Escape (more inline with budget) and would love any of your comments. Thanks so much!

We ended up getting a Saturn VUE. Thanks everyone!

I've had my Escape for 4.5 years and I like it. Good size, good mileage, etc. However, I wouldn't recommend it either. I haven't had any serious problems, but I have a rear differential squeal that no one can fix and I've had about 6-7 recalls on the car (luckily they're preventative). Also, there's a problem wiht brakes on the car when you have to get them changed. My mechanic, who is very good and trustworthy, said he's seen in almost all of them that he's changed that they squeal after the first set is changed. He used the mfg brakes instead of the generic ones to change mine and they still squeal.
It's been a good car and held up for 4.5 years, but I'm not thrilled with it. Perhaps newer models have less problems? I got mine in only the 3rd model year.

hi! we had a ford escape. and loved it very much! the ONLY reason we sold it was, because it was small for our family. we have 2boys in car seats. they fit fine but there is no room for anyone else! if you are comfortable with that -you should be happy with it. i suggest really looking at the space. it may be fine now but with your twins growing, and the amount of stuff you need and how long you want to own it should help you decide. good luck!

I have owned the Freestyle for almost 2 years now and have been really happy. We also did a lot of reasearch. I kept going between getting a minivan or crossover car. Things I liked about the Freestyle: a little more sporty looking, okay gas milage for suv type car, 3 rd row of seats that can fold down. I got the two captain chairs in the second row. It is really nice when the third row of seating is up because there is still room to put things (groceries, lightweight stroller). Depending what features are important to you, you should really do a comparison between all the areas of the car. Plus they have 'stadium seating' which means that each row of seats sits up a little higher then the other so you are not totally looking at the head of the person in front of you.

We have an Escape and it is great! We also have a Jeep Cherokee and we can go twice as long on a tank of gas w/the Escape compared to our Cherokee!!! These days that is a MAJOR selling point!!!

The Ford Freestyle has the best safety features. It is based on Volvo's safety, which is really safe.
We've had a Freestyle since June. We have a 3 yr. old, 2 yr. old and a 4 month old. It is extremely user friendly and we were even able to get a DVD player in it!
Let me know if you need any other info. My husband did a lot of research on the subject!

not sure on how helpfull this will be especially on the edge or freestyle but I can tell you that the escape is excellent, I currently own a ford explorer...2door:(... I took it in to the dealer to be serviced and they gave me an escape as a loaner....loved it, did not want to return it..very roomy for a small suv and good on gas also has a comfy feel. Hope this helped.
