Hello ladies. I have new pergo floors in my house. Has anyone out there ever used the Swifer WetJet on this type of floor? Is it safe to use? I hear a lot about the vinegar and water solution but I am also hoping to use the Swifer for quick clean up. Any advice would be much welcomed. Thanks

What can I do next?

I moped mine with flooring cleaner, like Mr. Clean or something, it was a disinfectant. I didnt use a ton of water and I wiped up the water right after I was done. Its not real wood so it shouldnt damage it. They "say" not to get it wet, but we are talking dont leave a puddle of water on it for a long time. If you wipe it up shortly after it should be ok. I did this for about three years (we moved) and it was fine. It made them shiney and beautiful and the disinfectant made me happy. I think the swifer wet jet would work good too. Its hard to damage those floors. But if you want an extra safe answer you could call where you got it from and they should tell you. Hope this helps!

I use the swifer for a quick clean up but it does leave the streaks. I currently use Zep wood & laminate cleaner and love it. You just spray it on the floor and mop it up (I use a microfiber mop). You can either damped the washable pad on the mop or just do it dry. I've also used the Pledge woodfloor cleaner and it did a good job but I was going through it fast. The Zep I found at Home Depot and it comes in a spray bottle for $5 or you can buy a gallon of it for $10 and just refill the spray bottle. It last a several months and I have three kids so my floors get cleaned alot plus I clean several houes.

The swiffer won't hurt it but it leaves streaks all over the place. I use Mr. Clean and a mop. As long is there is not large amounts of water on it and left for long periods of time there really isn't much that hurts it.

I had the same dilemma several years ago when I moved into a house with lots of Pergo. I didn't mop for several weeks because I was afraid of damaging the floor! I now use the Clorox floor cleaning system similar to the Wetjet and it works beautifully, with no negative outcomes.

I have used the Swiffer on my pergo floors, and it has not harmed it at all. It does leave little smeary marks you can see in the right light, so when good company comes I usually use an old fashioned mop with Mr. Clean. I also use Clorox wipes for small clean ups. I hate the smell of vinegar, so I have never tried using it to clean.

I used to have pergo in an apartment I lived in and used the swiffer with no problems at all.

I used to have pergo in my old house. I found the wetjet to be a mircle! I love it. It is quick, easy, does a good job and smells great..which is always better than pickles (the vinegar and water)Ha ha. I use it in all hard floors in my house now and have never had problems or issues with it! Hope this helps!

Good Morning B., I have wood floors also in the kitchen and downstairs family room. I don't think they are pergo though. I do use the wetjet swiffer on them, there is one made especially for Hardwood floors. Sometime it leaves a slight film on the floor. So I do once in a while go over it with just a water rinse. Not often do i have to do this though.

Good Luck to you and enjoy your new floors.

B.,
I wouldn't use the swiffer on it if I were you simply for the fact that the floors are designed to be resistant to dirt etc and any kind of product that has "fragrance or soap/detergants" will make dirt stick to the surface of your floor and leave a dull, filmy residue. I would stick to a plain cotton mop or floor rags and use vinegar and water(1-cup vinegar to 1-gallon warm water) or household ammonia and water (1/3 cup ammonia to 1-gallon warm water).

You are so lucky to have pergo floors! They never need to be waxed or polished = )

Good luck

I only have a tiny piece of hard wood flooring in my house (in front of the front door). I have no idea what Pergo floors are. Any way, If you really want to use the Swifer WetJet you can get one, dump out the solution, rinse out the bottle really good, then fill the bottle with the vinegar & water solution. I did that with my Clorox Ready Mop.

God Bless!

I also have pergo floors and tries the swiffer. It left a film and streaks all over the floor. SO for a quick clean up I have a spray bottle of vinegar and water and a cloth mop (the kind you velcro off and throw in the washer) that I use to mop up real quick.
