So What Happened?

Thanks so much everyone for your advice. I wound up being offered both a used Graco Duo Glide and a Joovy Sit and Stand, so I took them both and use either or depending on where I am going and how much walking is required. My 3 year old LOVES sitting in the front of the duo and we take it for walks around the neighborhood. I store it in my garage so even though its heavy, that's fine as I don't have to take in/out of the car. I have the joovy and we haven't used it yet, but keep that in the car as it is lighter and smaller for trips to the mall, etc...

For now, it is working out having both and since they were both given to me it is friendly for both the environment and my purse...

Thanks again!

I've got the city-mini for my baby, but only have the single. I did, however, ask a mom who was pushing the double around in Lord & Taylor, and she said it was the "best stroller I've ever used, and I've used a lot of them!" (direct quote).

I'm a huge fan of the mini, especially for its quick fold quality. I haven't used it yet, but have tried it out a bit in the store and in my house, but my boy's still in his car seat, so it's easier for me to just use that one until he's too big.

good luck!

Dear T.,

Just to let you know that I am the Area Director for AuPairCare a live in childcare agency that places aupairs in your home to assist with childcare, lite housekeeping and meals, laundry, driving etc. Many of my aupairs tell me that they like the stroller that has one child behind the other because it is easy to manage and fits more easily in spaces making it easier to roll.

I really like my Phil and Ted's stroller. It's expensive but worth it because it works as a single stroller too. We use it now for my 15 month old daughter and when the baby comes (hopefully any day now) it will be a double. And then we can use it as a single again if we need to. Good luck!

we also have almost 3 year old and newborn but decided not to invest in expensive double as 3 year old will not likely be in much longer. we did like city double but he is tall and his legs are dangling a bit. so getting a buggy board and an inexpensive jeep double....

I just purchased the baby trend sit and stand and my kids love it. I have a 14month old and a 3 year old. My 3 y.o. loves to have the option of standing or sitting. There is also an attachment that comes with it that will accomodate an infant carrier. I did not use the infant carrier. There is a sunshade for the smaller child in the front, but not the older one. I am selling my other strollers and just using this one!!

I have a 3.5 year old and am due in OCt with baby #2. I decided to go with the buggy board attachment for my single rather than buy a double stroller. I don't think my son will want to sit a stroller much longer and this gives him an option if he gets tired of walking.

I too have been looking into that and currently Phil and Ted has the best. I have asked moms I saw with them in prospect park and Brooklyn Heights and they gave me rave reviews. Check out their website http://www.philandteds.com/index-us-july1.htm

I've been looking for the same thing, I am pregnant now and my son will be 3 1/2 when the baby is born. We've been researching the sit and stand models since my son will be a little older when the new baby arrives. In my search I found that a lot of these strollers have a max weight of 40 lb or less (in the sit and stand area). My son is already 38 lb. So far we are going with the Sit and stand model from One Step Ahead. The max weight is 45 lb, and has a reasonable price of $160.00. It has had great reviews, the only con I found was that it was a little large if you have a small car.

I would definitely suggest a sit n stand. I have the baby trend one and it works very well for my now 10 month old daughter and 3 yr old son. I also used the infant carrier attachment for a while when my daughter was smaller and that was convenient too. I started out with a double stroller (Graco) and it was too heavy and my son was getting too big to want to be strapped in. He loves the option of being able to sit or stand or jump off and walk beside me.

Best of luck.

Probably a Joovy Caboose or a Sit N' Stand since your little one is 3. I am also interested in some answers, but I will have a 22 month old and a newborn.

I saw this really cool one at Kmart last week while I was getting my Grandson a combo stroller. I think it was $136...Kmart has layaway so that helps.

Good luck,

Hope this response isn't too late... we got a Joovy Ultralight Caboose last year when my son was born and my daughter was 2 1/2. It was one of the only sit & stand strollers I could find that would accomodate the infant car seat. We had the Graco Snugride and had no problems securing it on the front part of the stroller; at first I was a little concerned about there only being a strap and it not "snapping" in (we live on a street that's a fairly steep hill), but it was very secure and I wasn't worried about his safety. We still use it now all the time when my daughter doesn't want to walk. Other features I like: there's a buckle to secure my daughter in the back when she's seated, and it has great sun coverage for both kids. But be sure to get the ultralight version -- it's much easier to maneuver.
