Advice Needed for New Car Selection

I am looking at getting a new car. What do you think about having black leather interior with kids? Too hot? Easy to clean?

What can I do next?

I guess it would depend on how hot you area gets. I do not have leather seats but my 4 year old's car seat has some plastic pieces and it seems to get really hot. That presents a problem when you out shopping or errand running and you have to get in and out of a hot car.

I have leather in both cars and I will not have anything else. Leather is not like it was when I was a child and is not too hot/cold any more. It is very easy to maintain and especially with kids.

I just got a Murano and I LOVE it! I also have black leather seats and two small kids. I LOVE IT!!!

I have black leather seats and I do find them to be hot (my husband does not). I bought a seat cover for the driver's seat and that helps (but I'm sure you wouldn't want to do that for a new car). My daughter is 18mo and seems to get - I'm not sure what, half the time! - "stuff" in the back seat that shows up very easily - that didn't seem to show up on the gray seats that I had before. Black just seems to show any and all specks of - you name it: dirt, leaves, crumbs of any kind, lint, bits of paper scraps that fall from new books (my daughter loves to read in the car). Plus, our dash is black and I keep a microfiber rag in the glove box to go over the dash frequently as it shows the dust very easily as well.

If your children are older, the dirt/lint/stuff on the seats might now be a problem and different kinds of leather feel differently, so the hot problem might not exist in the car(s) you are looking at.

Sunshades help a lot with the hot seats.

We have black leather interior. It can be hot in this Texas heat, but it really hasn't bothered us too much. We have remote start on our car. That helps cool the car down a little before we get in.

Leather is easy to care for.

I just got a new car with black leather and so far it's been fine. The one thing I did do was put protectors on the back of the seats. While my son is sitting in his car seat, he likes to put his feet on the back of the seat. You can get them probably any where that sells baby seat items. I happend to get mine at Burlington. My previous car had gray leather seats and it was so wonderful. If he spilled anything, it was a breeze to clean up. Hope this helps.

I have a Jeep Cherokee with black leather interior and it's wonderful. I had the windows tinted to just above legal to keep the seats from getting too hot. As for cleaning I keep a can of the Armor All Leather cleaning wipes under the seat for easy clean up. If I had cloth or gray leather my seats would have been ruined years ago.

Leather is wonderful for easy clean with kids. Would never go back to cloth seats again. We have grey and it doesn't show anything. We have never had black....

We love the leather!
