we just moved to orange county in july from santa barbara. medi-cal was so easy and quickly set up in SB, but here it took them three months just to contact me back. and dont say its because there are more people here, because i started medi-cal in LA and they had no problem getting us started and finding us appropriate drs. but here its like they are just humorinig me on the phone and throwing out whatever suggestions or questions i had once we hung up.
I cant find a dentist who takes medi-cal in irvine.
i cant find a childs eye doctor in irvine.
i cant find a family practitioner or clinic in irvine
i cant find a gyn in irvine
you would think that they would have drs that take medi-cal here since the university is here and there are lots of student families. so many of my friends have to drive two cities away to go to the doctors. and my kids are always finding some new way to be sick, so i dont have the gas money or time to spend driving through five different cities to take my three kids to the doctors!!!

What can I do next?

CHOC Hospital has great services in the city of ORange. They may have phone numbers of MD's in the area for you. There is also a great dental clinic. ###-###-#### is the number, I think. Or call info and ask for CHOC.

Oh-- I hear you! the frustration of the phone run around and not ever getting a phone call back! It drives me crazy! I could really go on about not getting what I need from Medi-cal in oc. The social workers must be at the beach cuz they never answer their phone. We also moved here in July and have a newborn and a 3 yr old. Have you gone to office in Aliso Viejo to apply? We physically went down there because the phone is a joke! After they assign you to a network they will give you a list of doctors to choose from.
I found a child's eye doctor that takes medical, but he's not in irvine. He's in Orange which is close enough. Their number is ###-###-####. Its called PSF Med group opthalmology.
There are actually lots of pediatricians who will accept medical and cal-optima. The Bristol Park Group in Irvine on E. Yale loop does. Their phone is ###-###-####. Some family practice phone #'s are ###-###-#### (Advantage Plus Medical Center) or ###-###-#### (Dr. Alemzadeh) or Dr Yu ###-###-#### or Dr. Saam ###-###-####). I am pretty sure you have to be assigned a network before becoming a new patient though. As far as a dentist or gyn--I don't know in irvine. There's always the laguna hills saddleback hopital that has lots of obgyn's accepting medi-cal. The WIC offices have lists of doctors and good resources too. They might be better help for dentist and obgyn drs. Sorry I don't have their # but good luck to you.

wow. I hope someone can give you more help than I can. I live in Irvine, though, and also am on medical. My ex-husband put me on his ins, so it is my primary. My primary care physician is here-Dr. Elmzadeh ###-###-####. She's on barranca and lake. It's only her in a very small office. The rest of the doctors are difficult to find, but they will give you a list of providers. When you get your card, they will assign you the basic doctors, and you can change them at certain points.
Did you go to the santa ana office? Why don't you just go back in and apply?
contact me personally if I can help you with things around town.

I feel so bad for you. But you are right about can't find doctors/dentist in Irvine area that accepted Medi-Cal. 'Cause actually in OC, there's no medi-cal benefit for non-senior patients, they go thru Cal-Optima which is now have a new division OneCare. And they are suck, they keep all the fund from government for their own pocket and pay very little to all doctors/dentists/pharmacists, that's why no one want to accept those anymore, it's hassle to get pay from them. You probably have to arrange regular doctor/dentist visit to outside Irvine, 'cause Irvine lease is so expensive and physicians opt for rich patients I guess. However, for urgent visits, like when your kids sick and need to see someone quick. I believe you can take to any urgent clinic and they should take cal-optima. Check w/ the list of urgent clinic from Cal-optima, there should be one in Irvine.

good luck w/ everything, Irvine is very nice place to stay, but there's a big price for it.
