Hello Ladies,
I need your help my 7 year old daughter has bad allergies. I'm hoping she will out grow them. We have been through all the allergy testing and she is allergic to 23 different things. She has had exzema for years and we have tried so many different creams. Just recently she has developed red rings around her eyes and her face keeps peeling. I can't figure out what is causing this. I thought it could be a reaction to a antibotic she took for about a month. It's been about three weeks to a month since she has been off the medication. Has anyone had a reaction similar to this after taking cephalexin. Thanks for your help.

What can I do next?

My 5 month old has Eczema and we had a bad problem with the red peeling eyes. Pedi Derm (I had to wait for ever, but I really liked Dr. Ghali in Grapevine) said it was the eczema and prescribed a non-steroid ointment called protopic and it cleared within hours. Oh and there is a new alternative to Cephail called Cerave (we really like it) if you haven't had luck with Cephail. Cephil has Macadamia Nut oil and if there are any nut allergies present like in our case, it might not be the best for you.

I hope I am maybe a ray of hope here.....

My 14 yr old daughter had bad ezxema on her knes and feet as a baby and toddler. We were told the she could outgrow it. Each year it did get MUCH better. I have used all the cremes listed here. Eucerin seemed to work the best for us.

Another thing is every time we went to the beach and she was in the sand...it got better. If she came home and walked in the grass....it acted up.

Now, at 14, there is very little left and it is on her big toes. When it acts up, she tells me that calamine lotion helps. Of course that can be messy....pink stuff everywhere.

We feel blessed that she did outgrow the majority of eczema and hopefully your child will as well.

My son with horrible allergies has never experienced that peeling with cephalexin. But we have had the exzema and everything else - including asthma treatments, allergy shots, etc. What helped him with the exzema was Mary Kay's Night Emollient Cream. Really really thick but worked wonders. And it's not a steriod cream like so many prescriptions. Just wanted to let you know about that in case you didn't already. I think I would take your daughter to the allergist or dermatologist if you can't figure out the peeling problem. Good Luck !

You said you had done allergy testing, but I wasn't sure if you had looked into shots. I don't know how you feel about those, but I started allergy shots last spring (because my allergy testing showed I was allergic to everything in our air) and haven't had a sinus infection since. The office I go to does treat young children too, and the nurses are great. If you want to chat with someone over there, the doctor's name is Dr. Otto and he's located in an office at Denton Presby. Phone number ###-###-####. Good luck with all of it!

It sounds like it could be the Eczema. The only soap that clears up Eczema with my son is Cetaphil when it's followed by Cetaphil or Eucerin cream (not lotion). You can get both in generic at Wally (Equate). You might try that for a day or two and if you don't see a change call your doc.

I had an allergic reaction to Cephalaxin a month or two ago but I didn't have any skin reactions. My lips, tongue, and throat started to swell. That was a fun day! LOL

Best of luck and I hope the Cetaphil helps!
