Adult Teeth Coming in Before Baby Ones Fall Out

I had this problem when I was a child. I got my first teeth really late, and I kept many of my baby teeth all the way up to high school! I lost my front teeth, but none of the others would budge. I needed braces, but wasn't able to get them until all my baby teeth came out..so I had 7 teeth pulled. The roots were really long and really strong, and the doc said he hadn't seen anything like it before. Luckily my mom was awesome and bought me magazines, a movie, and a new cd to listen to while I laid in bed with a sore puffy face! I'm 27 now, and still don't have wisdom teeth. But the teeth I do have are beautiful. :)

My son had "shark teeth" for a long time. I think it was almost a year. The dentist kept an eye on it but ensured me that it is quite common. Eventually they came out and the adult teeth did move into the right position. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I have 6 kids 3 arent ready to loose teeth but this happened to two so far the adults comin but they don't come in where they push the other one out they come in where they cut the root but not completely unfortunately you need to take him to the dentist and have it removed. If you wiggle them it gives him pain because the adult one is already in. so it hits the other one. If its so loose to where its just hanging you really need to get your finger in there or nail and just pop it out if you can get a good grip just pull it . What happenes is the tooth is loose the adult comes through cuts some of the nerve but not all to have it come out so it stays wiggly but as it sits it also re adhes its self to the gum. because gums grow back and gums grow around the tooth. so it is a good possibility that its re adhesed to the gum. take him to the dentist.

We're going through this right now with our 7 year old (almost 8yo) son's top teeth. The dentist is watching them for now, but they'll probably have to be pulled.

Are these the bottom teeth? It's very common and called shark teeth.
My dentist said it's only an issue if it's on the top. So, if they're bottom teeth--no worries! Tell him to keep wiggling, twisting, etc. if he can.

My dd is 6 1/2 and her teeth are doing the exact same thing! The hygienist said to put orajel on it and encourage her to wiggle them as much as possible. The adult teeth are trapping the baby teeth as they come in, making it difficult for them to come out. They've been loose for months, but haven't come out yet. Maybe next week at Disney World, lol.

As long as you are following it with the dentist you don't really need to worry. My daughter had her front 4 do that. Top and bottom. They were like little shark teeth, lol.
Dentist said that as long as she could brush both of the teeth (baby and adult) then it wasn't a rush to do anything. With one of her 4, we eventually did let him pull it out at the office. The root is normally absorbed by the adult tooth growing, so they fall out rather than having to be "pulled" out. With her one, the root was completely dead and the tooth was turning gray, so he said to get it out. The others, she eventually wiggled them enough that she got them to come out eventually.

My son had a fully erupted tooth behind his baby tooth just a few months ago. His first tooth to lose, which was on the bottom. I too, as all nervous and took him to the dentist. I was mostly scared that his other tooth would remain where it was positioned so far back. The dentist said to continue wiggling it and that there was plenty of space for the new tooth once the old one was gone. It would gradually be pushed forward by his tongue. He was correct. The tooth has moved forward and it perfectly placed! Since the new tooth was already there the picture of him having lost the old tooth isn't as exciting since there is no gap really. Good luck!

Our kids have always had weird teeth coming in where they aren't supposed to, or coming in sideways. I have always taken them to the dentist very regularly, or the orthodontist if needed, and had teeth pulled or whatever, so they will end up being nice and straight. I think if you make sure you always take them to the dentist, they can head off any problem teeth before they actually become a problem. X rays are wonderful for that although I know some people hate getting them for their kids. Tell your son to wiggle his teeth too, he can do that when he's laying in bed at night or whatever anything helps when you're trying to get them out. good luck!!
