Adult Acne - Grapevine,TX

Hello! I have had adult acne ever since I had my first child - who is now 10. I'm done trying antibiotics that don't really work and really really want to try something natural. Maybe it's my diet? I'm not big on dairy other than the occasional slice of swiss on a sandwhich or glass of milk here and there. I drink organic milk. Don't drink or eat much junk food. UGH! Need help any suggestions? It's really gotten me down!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Okay so right after I posted this I got tons of responses. Thank you ladies! Everyone's regimes are all so different. I have tried Arbonne, Proactive - both lines, Clinique, dermatologist, the list goes on. My husband swears in bacteria...so I went out on a limb and tried putting Neosporin on the affected areas and by morning the swelling and redness had gone down tremendously. I can't believe it! We will see if it continues to work. I've been using it for a couple of days now and I'm just amazed! I am still using my face cleanser line by Mario Badescu...which I just love! We will see! I am almost relieved that this may actually work! I'll keep you ladies updated! Thanks again for all your amazing responses!

I deduced that two things caused my adult acne:

1. Too much starchy food and sugars (ie pasta, bread, crackers, popcorn, sweets, honey, etc.). Cut back on these foods.

2. Too much omega 6 fat and not enough omega 3. Cut back on omega 6s (vegetable oils) and increase omega 3s (fish oil supplement, sardines, walnuts or pumpkin seeds only, grass fed beef, free range eggs)

Good luck.

I use Proactive. My skin was clear until I was 28. I went through specialist, over the counter items, prescriptions and nothing worked. One day I saw a commercial for Proactive and ordered it. I haven't had any problems with it at all! Proactive works great and my skin looks great!I don't have to watch what I eat either. You should try it.

Hi,

I use products recommended by Paula Begoun. She has a website called cosmeticscop.com, and she has been featured on Oprah and the Fox morning show here in the Metroplex. She has a book out called, "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me." In it she rates all of the cosmetic companies out there. I use a combination of products that I can tell you about if you are interested, but her book and or her website will help you find something good for your skin. She's like the Consumer Reports for everything to do with your skin and hair.

Good luck!

First, just hear me out. Go to the health food store or drugstore.com and buy "Dr. Brown's Pine tar soap" It smells really bad...like burnt wood. The smell does not last long...I promise. Read the testimonies on Drugstore.com. Also, change your pillowcase....alot! If you are a sweaty sleeper like me, it helps alot! This is an investment of about $5. Also, go to the dermatologist (after trying) and get Differin Gel. It is better than anything for making acne scars go away and brown spots. If you are in Frisco texas area, Family Health Market on Preston and Lebanon area has the soap. Good Luck

Jump on the Arbonne bandwagon. It natural and it WORKS! I had the same problem when I had my daughter, three years ago... the acne came and would not go away. Try the Clear Advantage line. It's close to proactive but natural with supplements to clear from the inside out! I can send you a sample if you're interested... Good luck and hang in there. There is hope but it's frustrating I know.

A lot of people swear by proactive. I started using a face wash from Lush that has calyamine (sp?) lotion in it and it helped tons. Cetafil worked well too, but don't get in the mindset that if you have acne you shouldn't use moisturizer. It made it worse for me.

Good luck!

I have this too. My Dermatologist put me on Spironolactone, which helps to block testosterone. Before you go medication, I would highly recommend that you start on a daily probiotic, which puts good bacteria into your system. This can help ward off any bad stuff so that your system can work on lesser issues, such as acne. I plan to try getting off the medication and going this route for awhile in a few months...I don't like being on medication, although I have no negative side effects from it.

Hi L.,
An excellent natural way to help get rid of acne is Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbs). Not only will it reduce and get rid of the acne, it helps to balance out the rest of the body at the same time. If you would like more info, write me back.

Believe it or not, ProActive really works or at least it has for over 15 years for me. Give it a try. If you call in, you can even ask for the higher dose of the repair lotion. They suggested it for me when after 14 years it stopped working. I took a break from the product and then started using the higher does and luckily I have my beautiful skin back. Good luck.
