Adoption - Denver, CO
I just posted. We are also looking into adoption. I spoke to someone on here a long time ago who knew a lot about public adoption... I can't find that conversation anywhere. If you are still here and still read these- could you please get in touch with me?! Thanks so much!

T.,
I haven't posted about Adoption on this board before, but I am an adoptive mother of 2.
Both of my experiences were amazing and, from start to finish 2 month processes!! We were very blessed.
I did a TON of research on domestic and international adoptions. (both of ours were here in Denver - babies taken home from the hospital)
I would LOVE to talk to you about it and answer any questions you may have. Also, if your boyfriend has any questions/concerns, my husband is a great resource for him to talk to and get a guys point of view.
I wish you the best of luck-
C.

I adopted 2 foster children through the state children youth and families dept. Is that what you are referring to as "public adoption?" I'll help if I can...

Hi, T..
I live in the same area as you and have gone down the road you are looking at.
I would be glad to answer any specific questions you have. I have written extensively about choosing an agency, creating an adoption profile, and the importance of ethical adoptions (and how to tell if you have one!) on my two blogs.
This is my first post here, and I'm not sure the protocol, if I can post links or not. Maybe someone can tell me? Otherwise, I'd be glad to send you some helpful resources.
Also, I am teaching an adoption profile class at Colorado Free University on January 26. You can sign up at http://freeu.com/classes/4530.html.
Good luck to you...it's quite a journey!

I adopted a child through Adams County. But I started my journey at the Adoption Exchange in Aurora. They are a wonderful resource for people in the Rocky Mountain and Mid-West regions. They have regular, free informational classes that give you an overview of all the different types of adoptions, costs, and pros and cons.
Here's their website. http://www.adoptex.org/site/PageServer?pagename=homepage
Good luck.
