Here's a few links with some intersting info and products. There are books out there that you may be able to get at the local library , as well. I have a friend who thought her son had ADHD based on the symptoms and behavior of my son. Her child's symptoms were not as severe, but were indeed , similar. One of the things I had my son checked for was a wheat allergy that causes symptoms that mimic MANY different diseases and ailments--this turned out to be my friend's son's problem. My mother's close friend was taking meds for thyroid disease for 2 years before finding out it was a wheat allergy causing all of her problems. We were able to rule out the wheat allergy in my son's case, unfortunately. This may be something you want to look into becausethere is a special diet that people with this allergy have to follow. My friend's son had a complete turn around after changing his diet due to the wheat allergy. I only wish that would have worked for my son, too!Wild Oats food store sells a whole line of foods specifically for wheat allergy sufferers, by the way. Hope some of this info helps out!!

They have the "No Red Dye" diet, and the "No Sugar" diets for children w/ADD and ADHD. Also, have your child checked for allergies! Unfortunately, none of these diets worked for my children, though. My son's psychiatrist told us that you can give ADHD children tea or coffee that has caffeine at night, because it has an opposite reaction to ADHD and acts as a stimulant instead of an "upper." Also, giving any child a couple of Oreo cookies w/a glass of milk at bedtime has some sort of chemical that works as a natural stimulant, and helps children fall asleep.

I have a friend who has a child on an autism diet. I don't know if it would fit along the same line, but she said that the diet helps him to concentrate. When he is off it he doesn't focus on much. It is really just a completely gluten free diet.

Check with a local elementary school Sp. Ed. department--they should be able to help you or at least give you some info. as to how to contact the Co-Op which has tons of info.

my son's like that where if I give him chocolate then he settles down & gets to sleep easier
