Acupuncture??? Lake Worth, WPB, Boynton, Delray, Boca, Deerfield Area

Hi Moms,

Over the past 2 weeks I've become an insomniac. I can fall asleep but once 1,2,3am comes I'm wide awake.. As you all know trying to function and take care a 2.5 year old "ready to go" child is REALLY breaking me down :0( Oh and my patience is gone and I'm very cranky.
There's been a some stressful things going on in my life and I guess it all caught up to me. For the past 4 nights I've taken a zanax but i DO NOT want to rely on a prescription to help me sleep.... (I've always been a light sleeper and a long time ago I tried Ambien and it did the opposite on me)
Has anyone done acupuncture? What did you do it for? Did it help? How much does it cost? Would it even help for something like this?
I'm at a loss for what to do... I've tried so many "natural" pills and there NOT WORKING!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you moms SOOO much for your positive advice on going to get acupuncture! I was recommended to a Dr. Wu Lee in Boca (on Meadows drive), so I'm seeing him tomorrow morning ( on my bday, so hopefully it will be good luck for me)... He's been practicing for 48 years and from what I've heard really great... He's charging 80 for the 1st session and we'll take it from there..
THANKS AGAIN.. I'll update you to let you know how I liked it :0)

I am a huge advocate for acupuncture. I started going for my migraines, and it got me off my medications (Topomax and such) and into a better place. I highly recommend Nicole Mezoff. Her phone number is ###-###-####. She is WPB and Boca Raton. She is completely reasonable -- I think she charges about $80 for a 50-60 minute session. She takes the time to discuss what is going on in your life at the moment to use the best treatment for you. I haven't been to her in a while because I now see an acupuncturist who specializes in infertility, but she is great and I wish that I could see her for this issue. I think you have nothing to lose by trying it once -- it is a much better alternative to drugs! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions. I hope this helps.

Hi K.~

I've tried acupuncture for lots of symptoms and it has worked well for many of them. The best acupuncture doctor in the area is Dr. Shao, and he is not expensive. First visit, I think $75, then $50. Best thing is, you probably will only need a couple of visits. Let me know how it goes. Best of luck to you.

Blessings,

K.,
I have two wonderful resources for you. The first is Dr. Annalee Kitay who is a chiropractor who specializes in homeopathy, balancing the body thru Neural Organizational Technique, which is a non-invasive blend of accupuncture, kineseology and chiro. She can completely determine the systems that are off in your body and support you in a natural, holistic way. She is gentle and has produced wonderful results for me and my children, beyond what I can begin to write in this response. You should give her a call. She's in Boca ###-###-####.

I also have a traditional accupuncturist, Yintang, in east Boca. But my gut feeling is call Dr. Kitay. You will be extremely pleased!!

Hi K.,

I did acupuncture when I was getting ready to go through my second in-vitro attempt. I think they put down "back pain" for me so my insurance would cover it. I just had to pay my copays, but it might be covered for insomnia, so you would have to ask.

I have to say the first several visits felt very relaxing!!! I don't know how it works, but I felt like I had just gotten a massage. I also have to say it was a bit painful for me but everyone is different. It was mostly in my lower legs that hurt. But it was well worth it.

I used Dr. Wei when she was in a different office, but our kids ended up going to the same preschool so she gave me her new number. She's in Lake Worth now ###-###-####. And yes the in-vitro worked this time! I do believe it helped in some way.

Good luck!
L.

Sorry I can't recommend anyone in your area, but I used acupuncture for the exact same feeling starting in January of this year--it's amazing! Not only does it release any tension knots you may have in your muscles, but it also gets your energy flowing.

I'm pretty scientific and I always took people's mystical descriptions of acupuncture with a grain of salt, but I feel the same now. I got warm on one side, cool on the other, then it all swirled around and I felt so much lighter and more relaxed. And I'd always be in such a great, energetic, roll-with-it mood after. And that mood stays with me more and more now.

My acupunturist also helped me with my diet, so that's something to bring up.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that you get to lie down in a quiet, pleasant room without kids for an hour or so.... I would definitely try!

Hi,
I would think energy healing methods like acupuncture, acupressure, reiki, and whatever balances the chakras and meridians can help (in my view a combo of acupressure and energy field healing like reiki would be good)... though you'd still want to do some spiritual exercises and meditative stuff yourself to help release the mental stress that set off the sleep disturbance. Stress is merely our resistance to or lack of acceptance of whatever we perceive happening in our lives. Go to meetup.com and find the local meetups for reiki and other alternative healing methods. I know a few practitioners up your way, while I'm down in Miami myself.

I work for an accupuncture physician and have seen AMAZING results from as little as 1 treatment. Obviously everyone is different but I would say try it!! It's better than becoming reliant on pills :(
Most health insurance will cover part of the cost so check it out - it may end up costing you a little up front but then once insurance kicks in you're set! Good luck

Yes, acupuncture works. I have used it for various health issues. It works on physical stuff and also can calm emotions. For some issues it can work in one treatment, for others it may take a series of treatments. I don't know any APs in your area, but I do highly recommend you try it. And if cost is prohibitive, you could always ask the AP if they have a sliding scale or are open to barter (a huge pot of soup for a treatment, etc.)
