HI M. - I discovered acupuncture about 2 years ago when I started fertility treatments - I have loved my experiences with the woman I go see. She treated me for back pain, neck pain, abdominal pain and even a cold. She focuses on women's health and is a true licensed professional. Her office is small and so it is a pleasing environment to go to. She is really fantastic - her name is Geina Horton with Insight Acupuncture and I believe her website is www.insightacupuncture.com. She has a really extensive and informative website, even if you just use it for a reference point. One thing to keep in mind, is that it takes consistent treatments with acupuncture for it to work - I don't know how many for your situation, but you can't just go once and expect it to be cured - so unfortunately, not the most cost-effective solution, but totally worth it. Check with your health insurance, sometimes it covers it.

I've used acupuncture for a variety of problems... most recently for acid reflux during pregnancy. she is also helping me keep my blood pressure in check and support my pregnancy. my acupuncturist specializes in women's issues.. balancing hormones, etc. and she is really kind and friendly. plus she's a mom, which is nice too as she understands the whole kid thing.

Have you ever heard of Tapping? It's full name is EFT Emotional Freedom Thechnique. It has the same philosophy behind accupuncture, with all th epressure points, but it's free...you can do it at anywhere, anytime! I just recently found a DVD called Try It on Everything, and it's pretty cool to see how it works, there are a lot of the same people from the movie The Secret in it! Good Luck!

M., there are alternatives other than acupunture. you have a hormone imbalance. Usually estrogen is the bad one that causes endometriosis. Estrogen is in every thing we eat that comes from a cow. Cows are given estrogen to make them fat, and help with milk supply. Unfortunately it gets in the milk we drink and the meat we eat. You already make enough estrogen as a woman. You don't need more. There are several companies that make a wild yam cream that helps you make progestrone. I know many women who have used this cream to rid themselves of endometriosis. The company I use is Syringa. Go to www.syringa.com. The product you are looking for is called resolve. The other thing you can do is go off meat and milk that is laced with hormones. If you have to have meat, it needs to be organic. I choose to not eat meat at all. All of my estrogen dominant symptoms are gone now. It will take several months to rid your body of endometriosis but at least you won't have to have surgery. You can also look up estrogen dominance on the internet and learn more about it. Birth control pills are usually more estrogen which will make the problem worse.

I would recommend acupuncture and massage for endo. I also recommend learning more about Natural Progesterone Cream as an alternative. I'm not sure where you are located but tonight actually at my house is a free wellness class. There is a video talking about the benefits of NPC, Dr. Nigus is doing FREE acupuncture screenings and we have free chair massage. I am a Clinical Herbalist and specialize in a form of massage called Mayan Abdominal and Uterine Massage. I have worked with many women with Endometriosis and have had great success! I would recommend the Massage because during the sessions I teach you Self-Care techniques so you can do them on yourself (inexpensive option). I also utilize Herbal Medicine to balance the hormonal production which reduces the overgrowth of endometiral tissue. On average, the herbs cost about $40 per month and the massage is $105/2 hours for the inital session and then follow-ups are $65/1.5 hours. I usually see women every other week or once a month.
While I do work with acupuncuturists, we have found that economically and physically, the massage and herbal protocol is more effective than acupuncture.

I've never tried acupuncture but I've done about everything else in the past nine years. The thing that has helped me the most is actually progesterone. There is a compounding pharmacist, Christine Jacobson, at Wasatch Pharmacy in Ogden, UT that formulates the cream to each individual. She's very knowledgeable when it comes to Endometriosis and all women's health issues. That really helped the pain go away over a period of a few months it was almost gone!!! However the endo didn't go away. There is a doctor I am going to see in Farmington, UT at the Advanced Health Clinic, Dave (can't remember last name.) He has actually helped women to get rid of it! He uses mostly homeopathic remedies. But tests each individual first, so it's formulated just for you. I'm excited to see if it can really go away. Hope this helps, good luck to you!!!!!

I recently started acupuncture treatment for urinary/vaginal pain that the doctors couldn't do anything for and it has helped so much, it's almost unbelievable! I started going twice a week for three weeks and am now doing just once a week to see how it goes. She also gave me an herbal tea to drink every night. I can't believe the difference! I was taking pain medication and/or sitting on warm rice bags daily and I haven't had to use the rice bag in four weeks and I've only taken a pain pill twice (and part of that was due to migraine pain). Try it! I am currently in accupuncture therapy due to neuropathy from chemo where my hands and feet go numb. The first time she did it, I was 90% back to normal!! I am going once a week for 6 weeks and have absolutley loved it! After speaking with her, I understand that accupuncture can have great effects on women's problems! So you have nothing to lose but try it.

Hi M., I am a massage therapist and have some suggestions that might help. I will encourage acupuncture, it is a great alternative if you don't want to take drugs from the western side of medicine. Acupuncture does work and I can reccommend a few to you if you would like.

The other thing you may want to try is placing a hot pack below your hips on top of your upper thighs.

There are some essential oils that might help with the pain as well. I would suggest peppermint oil mixed with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil. Put about 2 to 3 drops of peppermint oil into your hand and then a little bit of grapeseed oil. Rub it onto your belly/abdomen area. It will feel a bit warming and cooling at the same. If it is too warm on your belly use less peppermint oil. You can also buy a small dropper bottle and mix the peppermint oil and grapeseed oil. There are many carrier oils so you don't have to specifically use grapeseed.
