Hello everyone,
My one year old is breaking out around her mouth/chin/nose. It seems to happen when she is warm, which lately with the weather, is happening often. I am not sure what is causing it or how to clear it up. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank You

when I was growing up it was called a heat rash. All you can do is keep it clean. and keep her cool.

It is probably not acne. It could be a reaction to sunscreen or a food sensitivity. Watch for a particular pattern for the breakouts and keep a food journal. Good luck.

Has it been diagnosed by a Doctor that it is acne? Or is that just what you are thinking it is? Sounds like heat rash, but could also be eczema. There are alot of different reasons for eczema, but usually a break out around the mouth can indicate an allergy to food or drink. I would research eczema on the internet/medical book to get a better idea of what it looks like and all. I found out my Son has an allergy to milk, and peanuts and his face gets really broken out around his whole mouth/chin if he eats anything with milk. We use hydroc. cream (1%)for bad flair ups and a number of other things to help the skin. He was not diagnosed or had any other symptoms UNTIL 17 motnhs of age, so it can happen after digesting milk for several months. Just a thought to consider. Good luck!!

www.Aveeno.com

Check to see what the baby is eating that may cause irritation around his mouth.

Hope this helps. D.

I think she may have an allergy to food or to something that is being put on her like a lotion or sunscreen. I would check with her pediatrician.

My daughter had infant acne. The dr. said to just rinse well with cool water. I found a lotion called Aveeno Baby Calming lotion that worked really well.

You may want to visit your pediatrician. It sounds like it could be an allergy of some sort or it could just be a heat rash. I thought heat rashes generally showed up on your chest, stomach, back, and in the elbow and knee area. I have the same type of breakouts, only around my nose, mouth and chin and I visit a dermatologist to help clear them up. Good Luck!!

Sounds like heat rash. I think you just need to rinse well with water. If it hurts or gets itchy, you can make a compress with water and baking soda on a washcloth or paper towel. When your daughter gets hot, wipe down her face and chin with cool (not cold) water. Water is your safest bet unless instructed differently by your pediatrician. Hope that helps.

Hey. I feel your pain!!! My daughter has been having lots of issues w/ this, especially lately.
We put Aquaphor around her chin, cheeks and mouth before she eats and hasn't had any break-outs since, but I think the break-out was from contact w/ certain acidic foods. Then, she seemed to get a rash all over her body (we thought it may have stemmed from a grass allergy), went thru several rounds of allergy-medication and oral steroids and nothing worked. We saw a dermatologist who gave us a tub of a 50/50 mixture of hydrocortisone (about .5% I think) and Eucerine lotion. After 2 days of using it twice a day, her skin is Radiant all over!!
Good luck!
