Hi moms,

Recently, I've been having a sour stomach, nausea, burping, a sour taste in my mouth, and I keep having this feeling like I have something stuck in my throat. I went to my doctor last Friday and he said it could be acid reflux and started me on medication called Zegerid. I haven't been able to eat because it will upset my stomach and the medication isn't working too much..

Does anyone care to share their experiences with acid reflux? Did any medication help you out? I have changed my diet completely by eliminating caffeine, sodas, and fatty food. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The thing that's bugging me the most is the lump feeling in my throat and the sour taste in my mouth, it comes and goes and today it's back =( (probably because I drank a big cup of coffee yesterday and found out the hard way that it irritates my stomach), my Dr. also said that in three weeks if the medication doesn't work that I will go in and get more tests done.

What can I do next?

I too was on Zegerid......did not like that stuff. I ended up going to Dr. Chalmers for help and he solved it naturally for me.....insurance won't cover it but the cost of that Rx is not fun so it has saved me in the end....HIGHLY Recommend this office.

OMG! I have acid reflux and it is no fun at all.. Sometimes you never know what is going to upset you. Now I have been trying some home remedies and they work as long as I don't eat the wrong foods. I like Nexxum - Flat belly diet has really helped though - especially the first 4 anti-bloat days.. Gingerale; sassy water(cucumbers/ginger/mint leaves/lemon. is good.

I'm guessing the doc told you, but don't lie down after you eat. In fact best to prop yourself up a bit to sleep. Red sauce, spicy foods and mashed potatoes are triggers too. I did the meds for awhile and they worked soso. I started a health and wellness business and started reading about it. Then I switched to natural remedies including digestive enzymes, stomach soothing teas and added a few herbs to my diet. I had to stick to it for several months before I saw results, but I it's very rare for me to have reflux now.

If the meds don't work let the doctor do his tests or you will continue to worry.......and I think worry contributes because it's all about stomach acid.
