Acai Berry
Hello mamas!
I've heard alot about ACAI Berry. Has anyone out there tried it and is happy with the weight loss results. I need to lose about 50 pounds but I'd like to see fast results in the beginning for motivation. Any help or suggestions would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, My husband and I have just started the Mona Vie business which uses the acai berry in their product. Their products are not made just for weight loss, but the information that we have on the acai berry is great. It has more antioxidant power than any fruit ever tested. The daily recommendation of fruits and veg. is about 5-9 servings and 4 oz of Mona Vie gives you 13 servings. My husband has a hard time with that because he doesn't like many fruits or veggies, so the drink makes it very easy for him to get his nutrition. We also need to lose some weight and maintain a healthier life because we have 2 small children to keep up with and Im hoping the acai berry will help get us on track. Please let me know if you have any questions about the Mona Vie products or making money in the business.

Acai is very a very healthy food, and it contains some omega 3's. But there isn't anything extraordinary about it. Just like the "2 apples a day diet" (where you have an apple for your mid-morning snack and afternoon snack), adding fruit to your diet can help you lose weight because it's filling you up with (fairly) low calorie, high fiber bulk. Whether you choose to eat lots of acai, apples, or blueberries (also very healthy), increasing your intake of fruit will always help.
The best weight loss advice is the oldest. "Eat REAL food. Not too much. Mostly plants."
Fill up on REAL food, fresh fruits and veggies. Drink lots of water. If you need a caffiene fix, coffee or tea is better than soda. Make at least half of your carbs whole grain (whole wheat instead of white bread, brown rice instead of white rice, whole wheat pastas, OATS -scottish oatmeal or even just Cheerios etc.) Eat less cheese and meat - keep those portions low (it's easier if you've already filled up on salad and veggies and other super healthy foods) Keep healthy snacks around, like hummus and whole wheat pita crisps, raw walnuts straight out of the bag, or peanut butter on whole wheat crackers. Have a big spinach salad before dinner (or other leafy greens). Throw on some tomatoes and carrots. Make some black beans and serve it over the brown rice (That's my five-year-old's favorite meal) or just get some black bean chili from the health food aisle.
And get at least a little exercise - make sure it's something you enjoy or it won't stick. I take the kids to the park and play the "monster game" - I chase them, they run, and if I catch them, they get tickled until they beg me to stop. If you need something more serene, a walk at sunset (or sunrise if you're an early bird - I'm not.) can be a great stress buster.
Try not to focus too much on the weight alone - make small steps to improve your overall health, and don't be too hard on yourself. A glass of red wine at dinner, a chocolate truffle here and there, small indulgences keep your from feeling deprived. When you feel deprived, you're more likely to binge and completely fall off the wagon.
BABY STEPS! Good luck.

Hi D.,
I also moved to the area 4 months ago from Michigan. Welcome! I just wanted to encourage you to take a look at my website here on Mamasource...www.tlc4weightloss.com. TLC Wellbeing Center. I did the program myself while living overseas and have brought it here to the states. You do see fast results and that does keep you motivated! The combination of the protein and vegetables (personalized to you) will actually increase your own growth hormone and that burns the fat rapidly and safely! Very cool. I have many successful clients and would be happy to speak with you about it. ###-###-####
Take care,

My husband and I drink a 6 berry (superfood) drink each morning (1-2 oz). It is not neccessarily for weightloss, but for overall health. But it definetly makes us feel better and more energized! The one we use is from Lifetime and the 6 superfoods are Acai, Mangosteen, Goji, Noni, Camu-Camu and Pomegranate. Check with your local health food store for what would be best for you. I go to the Good Nutrition store in Woodstock, but they have more locations!

Hi D.,
Nutrition is the key to losing weight and the Acai Berry is a good antioxidant.(So is organic grape juice.) Antioxidants protects you against free radicals that cause a lot of serious diseases. That being said, it is just one piece of the nutritional puzzle.
My husband has lost a ton of weight (120 pounds to be specific) from a good absorbable multivitamin and has kept it off. Little effort went into diet and exercise (none at the first 60 pounds) until he really wanted to get his activity level up. Not that he was a couch potato, but his energy had increased so much that he needed an outlet.
My husband's best friend has lost 50 pounds, my sister-in-law has dropped 20 and I lost 10. Several other I know that have used the vitamins have not expected weight loss, but have seen it.
Let me know if you'd like to know more....I'll be glad to help!
Regards,
M.

I take a supplement that has Acai juice in it along with a bunch of Vit D many other things, but my husband lost about 50 lbs in three months using a program that teaches you how to eat small quantities six times a day and offers a free health coach.
You can try calling Caroline at ###-###-#### to see what she suggests.
Good Luck,

Hi D.,
I am L., single mom of 5. I know what you need for weight loss to take FAT OFF( not just pounds ) and keep it off. That is important for good body composition. I do know about ACAI, but there is more to loosing the fat than just taking the product. It is more of an energy enhancer. If you are truly serious about loosing fat, consult with me, I do have the answer. God Bless!

Hi Diana,
Welcome to Atlanta! I have not heard about weight loss with ACAI berry. what company?
If you aren't tied to that I have an excellent weight loss product that is natural, botanically based, no soy or dairy. It uses pea protein and I have seen excellent results with it! There are protein shakes, chews which are like a piece of candy, energy drink, fiber shake and a detox tea. They increase your metabolism, decrease your appetite (I can attest to this), increase energy (I can attest to this to with being at home with a 3 1/2yo and a 9 mo old!) and also help with weight loss. It's a great product and I'd love to give you more information and help.
Thanks,
K.
