A Good Doctor at Coon Rapids Womens Clinic?

I am new to Allina and have never seen a doctor yet there. I am due for my pap smear and was wondering which doctor at the Coon Rapids Womens Clinic is a good doctor? I want one who listens to my concerns and knows a lot about womens issues. I do not plan on having any more children but still would like an ob-gyn for my annual axams and other issues. I do not care if my doctor is a man or woman.

What can I do next?

If Amy Eastenson is still there, she is wonderful. She used to work at my clinic and was my dr for ten years, delivered my first child, then she left to go to Coon Rapids.

I'm glad to hear you're going to the clinic! They have some really great people there. The only one I've ever heard mixed reviews about is Dr. Dickerson. You either love or hate her it seems. Someone suggested Dr. Friese to me, and I did see him for my pregnancy. He's very calm and gentle. Open to questioning if you ask the questions, otherwise he's not a huge talker. Very intelligent and helpful though. I saw Dr. Gourneau once and he was light hearted and a jokester. Very personable and talkative. Dr. Lindman-Miller was super sweet and very empathetic when I developed mastitis. I know many people who have loved Dr. Elias. I also met Dr. Schoel in the hospital and I think overall I would try her. But I think you can't go wrong with any of them. I've heard many positive things about their Nurse Practitioners as well. You could try each doctor until you find one that meshes with you the best. Good luck!

I agree with Kristen. All the doctor's I have met there have been wonderful. I actually see a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner at the Ramsey Allina Clinic (it's closer for me). Her name is Gail Sears. Wonderful woman and the best I've seen (also saw her throughout my pregnancy). But I would feel confident seeing any of the doctors at the Women's Clinic. I saw Dr. Dickerson at the beginning of my pregnancy for my first exam because I was required to see an actually Dr. vs a WHNP. Great as far as listening (I had concerns she thought wouldn't be an issue and tested anyway to make me feel better-turned out I was right), but I require a "gentle" touch so to speak (sorry if that's too personal) and she wasn't quite it for me. Dr. Friese was more my speed and great when we thought my baby was in trouble. Dr. Miller delivered my baby and was all about being efficient (I think there were a couple of other deliveries going on at the same time and I was much faster than she expected!). I have also seen Dr. Gorneau and he was pretty good. I think you have chosen a great clinic-the other nice thing is that the doctors are sometimes available at other clinics- I was able to find a convenient location and was able to get my scheduling needs met. The scheduling nurse even called me back to let me know there was a better appointment available (I needed to see a doctor about getting an induction so it was a little more of an immediate need). She was really great and helpful.

My favorite doctor is Melinda Johnson she is very nice and will address all of your concerns. She has delivered two of my children by c-section and I totally trust her and her judgment.

Dr. Friese is wonderful. I saw him thru my pregnancy and he delivered my 10 lb. 5 oz. son 10 years ago. I know this is probably too much info but... he has very long fingers so he doesn't hurt you as much as the women doc's do with their smaller hands. No jamming if you know what I mean. Sorry about the too much info.

I have seen Dr Elias and Dr Friese. They are both great. Dr Friese is very calm and reassuring. Dr Elias is very compassionate and will really take time with you but a bit more spirited. Both are great. I have seen Dr Elias for both pregnancies. Avoid Dr Eastenson...I think she is only at Allina Champlin now but used to be at Coon Rapids.
