A Friend like You

What is it about yourself or your personality do you wish you could find in a new friend? Example for me: I wish I could find another empty nest, divorced, 50ish female friend who is as spontaneous (with taking simple weekend road trips) as I.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I love the responses here. It seems they need to have an EHarmony or Match.com for platonic friendships!

I would like to know more moms who had their child later on in life. I had my son when I was 37 and now at 47, many of the mom groups I know about have much younger moms in them.. Additionally, it's kinda the same at my son's school.. Although, I NEVER would change things, I never knew having a child later on in life might feel isolating at times. Don't get me wrong, I feel blessed.. but there definitely have been times when I wished to know more moms my age who also have kids my age.. on the one hand, there seems to be the moms in their 50s who have grown kids and then those 30 and below who have toddlers.. seems like 40 plus is the hit or miss age.. then again, I guess there are pros and cons to everything.. :)

I wish I had a bff in my life right now that actually had a huge heart and wanted to learn how to take care of my special needs son so I can get out now and again or have someone want to learn how to cook allergy friendly so my family could benefit from a ready made meal once in awhile. I watch all these new moms or people with hardships getting meal after meal brought in but I'm always and forever left out, it's frustrating, I won't lie.

ha! I would love to find a friend who loved to read, read, read books on nerdy things like. . .theoretical evolution of mass communications or how to apply best practices in crisis management or Marketing and the evolution of creativity.
Don't get me wrong, I like brain candy (confessions of a shopaholic, nora roberts and steig larson) as much as the rest, but I get on these kicks where I want to really dig in and get some meaty reading and discussion and my book club just doesn't float it, neither does my professional society pals - sigh- Nerds unite! LOL

Someone who is not sensitive and will not get offended if I am blunt or opinionated.

Common interests are good, but I've gotta say my BFF and I have some very different personality traits--that's what makes our friendship great!

I'm just looking for someone who has made similar life choices. I'd prefer someone happily married, with two kids, not one, not five. just two.

I wish I had someone who was just as blunt and real as I - Oh and just as crazy as I am about things like make up and Modern Warfare III!

Finding a new friend is often hard. For me, I can be very introverted depending on the atmosphere and people surrounding it. I have to be comfortable in order to actually open up. I am always looking for someone who is easy going, and REAL . Someone who knows their faults, but has a great heart and sense of humor. I have five very close girl friends and they all possess that trait. I am lucky to have them in my life.
