A Cream for Stretch Marks That Actually Works!
Does anyone have any good suggestions on a cream for stretch marks? I have tried the cocoa butter and it has not prevented or lessoned the color of any marks. Perhaps someone can just tell me that their body was the same way and after birth the dark color lightened considerably.
So What Happened?™
So, here is what I tried for anyone else who is living with these ugly marks. It was suggested to try a product by Lordsflag an online spa site, called MIE soy body cream. Oh boy am I happy I tried it. So far it is the only product that has helped significantly lighten my stretch marks and they don't look like they aare bleeding anymore!!

The stuff from Bath and Body works is called True Blue Spa - "Lay It on Thick" it does smell really good, however it did not prevent me from getting stretch marks. I got it for itching and stretch marks when I was pregnant with my second child and it helped a little with the itching and did nothing for the stretch marks. I did smell good though :) Really there is no miracle cream to prevent them, if you're gonna get them, you're gonna get them and there is nothing you can do. I know they suck now but they will fade more than you think and then you can use self tanning lotion on the stretch marks to get them about the same color as the rest of you're skin. Good Luck with the new baby!

I used cocoa butter all through my first pregnancy. I didn't get any stretch marks where I put the butter, but I neglected to put it on my thighs and I did get them there. They have faded a lot, but are still there. The dark color definitely goes away. Mine are pretty much the same color as my skin, if not a little lighter!
I don't think there is anything out there that can actually prevent or make them go away though. Just know that almost every other mom out there has the same issues and scars! :)

Sorry to tell you, but there is no way to prevent them. Every pregnancy book I have read (I lost my job at 8 weeks...I've read A LOT!!) says that it's gentically determined. One little thing you can do is stretch the front of your body with mild back bends and twists every morning. It helps a little to keep ahead of the baby's growth and helps in growth spurts. But, if you already have them, you will continue to get them. A dermatologist can prescribe a few things like Retin A to help diminish them afterward, but you'll have to get used to seeing them as a trophy of what you've gone through.
Keep in mind, you aren't the only one! Something like 80% of women get them, some just don't care and go on to wear bikinis and mid-drift shirts.
Good Luck:)

I used everything under the sun when I was pregnant and I think someone should tell you what really goes down with stretch marks; you either have stretchy skin of you don't.
I weighed 105 pounds when I got pregnant with my son, gained 50, lost it all afterward (less 5 lbs maybe) and have stretch marks from the belly button down to the tops of my thighs. I hate it, but they are what they are and until I gain enough weight to have a tummy tuck done I'm screwed.
My sister, who is just as little as me but a bit taller (she's very thin), also used all kinds of cocoa butter, vitamin e, stuff like that and ended up with about 5 stretch marks total as opposed to the probably 150 or so I have.
I think a lot fo that really depends on your skin's natural elasticity, your size and your weight gain. I was so little I just didn't have anything extra to stretch. Good luck though!

The only thing I can get to work is called Mother's Friend cream. You can get it at your pharmacy, just ask them to order it for you. It's about 5 or 10 dollars. I go to Walmart to get mine if that helps.

Hello! Bath and Body Works has this stuff, and if you go in and explain it, they'll know what you're talking about. I have had two kids and have NO STRETCHMARKS!! Not even a teeny tiny one anywhere! Seriously, you can't even tell I've had kids. To get these results, I used a lotion from there that had some shea butter and cocoa butter also if I remember right. It's not in as big of bottle as their regular lotions and not located in the same spot. It was a little pricy, like $12 or so per bottle, but well worth it. My friends said I smelled like coconut the whole time I was pregnant! I would apply it about 3 or 4 times a day to my belly. I hope it works as good for you as it did for me!

I didn't find anything that prevented the Stretch Marks. However after the baby was born AND after I finished breastfeeding I used a cream called Stri Vectin. You buy it at Younkers and it is kinda pricey but it did help. The down fall is that you have to use it 3 times a day for it to work. So although it made mine a lot lighter it didn't make them go away completely, but it might have if I would have continued using it 3 times a day. Good Luck!
