9 Year Old Losing Molar or Something Else?

My daughter woke up this morning complaining that he molar hurt and there was a little blood. I checked her tooth and noted that it looks discolored (like there is blood up in the tooth) and it is sore, but not loose (feeling to me) or absessed looking...I don't want to rush her into the dentist or anything, but I am not sure if I should have it looked at.

My mommy instinct tells me that it is loosening up to come out. She is the right age for that and all...Just wanted to check with all you wonderful mommies for insight.

What can I do next?

It shouldn't be discolored and if it's not wiggling, there shouldn't be blood. Dentist.

Our teeth didn't hurt when they were loosening up to fall out.
Sometimes a root doesn't dissolve completely (adult tooth doesn't come up directly under the baby tooth).
I'd have a dentist take a look at it.
If it turns out to be nothing at least you'll have peace of mind knowing there's nothing infected going on (and an infection could damage the adult tooth coming in).

I see no harm is checking it out. She is at the age where it is about time but you don't know if something else is going on in there that could possibly worsen.

"blood up in the tooth" is something I would certainly have checked by a professional.

She may have an infection in the gum. I think you should take her to the dentist.

Discoloration isn't normal for a tooth that is simply coming loose naturally. If it doesn't move, there should also not be blood. It should be examined as soon as the dentist can see you.
