9 Month Old Waking up Soaked Every Morning

We have been using a diaper called "Overnights" and it works great. They are usually near the Huggies (not sure what brand they are) I am not sure the small size would fit him since it says for 38-60 lbs. But you may want to try because my son is just learning to potty train and we were having same problem in the AM.

I'm telling you they are the best around and we purchased and thrown every other brand away. We also used Pampers Swaddlers (can't remember the weight, but they are for newborns and smaller babies). My son who we are trying to potty train holds his bladder like a big kid now (he is 2 1/2 and the height/weight of a 4-5 year old. You can't believe what his diaper looks like in the morning. It's enormous if we don't change it in the middle of the night. It looks like it would rip open at any slight move, but it makes it =) I hope this works for you! Check diapers.com for price break. Huggies overnites!!! Haven't had a problem since I've been using them. At first I thought it might be a gimmic.

Nature BabyCare diapers! They are the best in the world and good for the environment to boot! They are filled with natural wood fiber and can stand up to a good soaking. They sell them at Target for about $10.00 for 30-40 (depending on the size). Ideally you should check him mid-sleep for wetness but if, say, you are all sound asleep the Nature BabyCare should take care of it. We wanted to go with eco-friendly diapers and tried Kushies and G Diapers. Both were expensive and really leaky. The Nature BabyCare are marvelous! I'm not a fan of the Seventh Generation although they are nice and soft, but too thin. Try the Nature BabyCare... you're sure to be impressed!

I had a similar problem with my first child. He wasn't too big for the diaper, but something about the diaper's fit just didn't work for my son's body. We went to a different brand and it took care of the problem. You could also try avoiding drinks closer to bed time and making sure you change him right before he goes to bed. I have found that the best night time diapers on the market are Pampers Cruisers. I've tried 5 brands and never had a problem with Pampers. If they are too expensive for day usage, just use them at night. If you have a membership to Sam's Club you can actually buy a huge box of them for about the same that you pay for the cheap brands. Make sure you like them before you buy and open a big box, but they've always worked for me.

The way I've found to deal with this is to change my son's diaper sometime in the night (like around 1am) while he's still asleep. Not only does he have a drier diaper in the morning, but he usually will sleep longer. If he wakes up, while you do this, give him a small bottle.

I had the same problem with my 11 month old around 2-3 months ago. We had her in Pampers diapers. By chance, my husband and I went shopping to Target and we purchased eco-friendly diapers, just because. They are made from recycled products and the diapers are good for the environment.

Well, they worked great for her overnight and they seem to hold more in. I always put them on for her night time sleep and still use Pampers during the day.

They are the same price as Pampers/Huggies...they just do not come in a box size. We purchase the same size as she is....

I had the same exact problem. Wet PJ's, wet sheets!!!! I wouldn't changed him in the middle of the night, or put a bulky plastic cover on either - yuk!!! Would you want that. I switched to Huggies Night Time diapers. They hold more are great for the night and I have never had a problem since. I was so glad someone told me about them and I am happy to pass it on. Problem Solved.

I have also used "diaper doublers" thay are kinda like sanitary pads, and add extra absorbancy to the diaper. I have found them at Albertsons. I also recommend the plastic pants on the outside of the diaper. I go the fabric lined ones (for extra, extra absorbancy) and just washed them daily

I used to change my kids in the middle of the night when they were sleeping, if they'd already wet it a bit. Then if they do it again, they wouldn't be as soaked in the morning. I go to bed really late, so, this may have been easier for me but also, I tend to check them throughout the night, even so. Maybe you can set an alarm on a vibrating cell phone to keep beside you at night and then go check, and if they are dry go back to bed, if a bit wet, quietly and gently turn them over and change without talking to them and with minimal light.

Try giving your baby cereal before he goes to sleep at nibht and cut back on the liquids. J.

If changing him during the night isn't an option, than buy the Gerber plastic covers (to wear over cloth diapers) they are cheap and can be found at Target or Wallmart. Put one on over his diaper. He may still soak the diaper but his clothes and sheets won' get wet. This "phase" will hopefully pass, my son when through a leaky time too. These pants are great when your son is learning to use the toilet too and you want to run an errand or ? Just put them on over the underwear and his clothes, carseat, etc.. won't get wet if he has an accident.

Huggies Overnights. My daughter had the exact same issue. She weighs 21 pounds and wears the size 4, but I think I might have to move her to the 5's. These work great, no more sad wake ups or me doubling up on diapers. By them in bulk though, as Target is always out of them :)

My DS did this all the time too! I found that my life was easier if I just changed him before I went to bed and then again when DH's alarm clock went off. Most of the time I could do it without REALLY waking him up. Others told me not to nurse him so much before bed, but if I didn't, he would wake up screaming of hunger in the middle of the night.

Other things that helped: try the next size up of diapers if 20lbs is close to the heavy side of the diapers capacity. I believe (it's been 2 1/2 years now) my son was in a 5 at his first birthday and weighed about 30 lbs. Also- if there are other diaper brands your comfortable trying, I would see if they work better for you. I found for DS that Pampers worked better than Huggies, and Loves were trash. (Walgreens brand were actually as good as if not better than Pampers!) Last but not least- be sure his business parts are pointed as deep into the diaper as possible. DS would start down, but somehow it would turn or twist more up during the night.
