I am now 9 days late and 2 neg preganancy test about four days ago. It was one of the "early test 5 days before missed period)...I do have some food cravings and headaches. I have felt crampy for going on 2 weeks like I am about to start but don't. I have also been very moody (which I am not usually moody at during that time of the month, even my husband said so)I have been on birth control, but recently found out that a medication (given to me by my GYN - go figure!!!)inerferes with BC. I have NEVER been late unless I was pregnant. I have 2 kids and had a miscarriage last Oct. Should I be concerned that I am pregnant and should I go to the dr for a blood test?

Thanks,
Puzzled

What can I do next?

Stress causes it to be late. Stop stressing over it and it will start. Just eat (no smoke, no drink) for a week or so and let it start. If after another week you can consult a doctor...there are other things besides pregnancy that can hinder it.

I am too 10 days late and took a pregnancy test which was negative. I called my doctor and told them and they told me that this can happen while you're on the pill or if you go off it. I was told to see if I get my period my next cycle and if 3 don't the call them back and they will get me in. The way I look at it is if I am pregnant the I need to take better care of myself, until my next cycle is due. I may take another test in a few days just to be sure. Like you I have never missed a period or been late except when I was pregnant. Just stay relaxed!

even though you took an early pregnancy test it still might have been too early to tell. i would wait a another week and take another pregnancy test if you are not doing anything that would jeopardize the pregnancy at this point. i knew i was pregnant with my son but the first test i took came out negative. about two or three weeks later i took another test and was it was pos. at the doc. they confirmed that i was pregnant during the first test but the hormones were not strong enough to pick up on the home test.

To be safe I'd go for the blood test...however I understand the urine test that the dr's do is pretty much the same standard test we have available to us over the counter. Stress can make you as you know be late but if I was taking bc and another med given to me by my ob-gyn that can have an effect on the bc not working correctly I'd give them a call as well. You may not be preg but is there a possibility that that med with the bc could make you not have your period?? I can say that dr's have told me that the over the counter preg test are pretty much on the dot correct. I would be concerned about some other issue if not preg like the meds making not have a period. I am betting you aren't preg but to be safe I'd call my dr and ask to get in for a blood test.

I have been told that home pregnancy test will not ever give a "false" positive but can certainly give you a "false" negative. You have to have enough of the pregnancy hormone in order for the test to confirm. You could go for a blood test but in my opinion that would be a waste of time and money. By the time you get the test results back from a blood test you have already had to wait for a couple of days anyways so you would be better off taking another pregnancy test. I am on the Nuvaring and there are a couple of months I had no period at all then it went back to having a period to not having one again then back again. I took pregnancy test just to confirm I wasn't but I also had alot of stress in between that time too. Sometimes when you think you are you start noticing the signs of it but those signs could be in relation to something else rather than pregnancy-your body plays tricks on you! Good luck and let us know what happens!
Oh btw just an FYI my sister-in-law as well as my cousin BOTH has blood work done and we told they were not pregnant and after waiting a little longer and them "demanding" another test it came out positive for pregnancy - so blood test are not always accurate as well as you can see from two others experiences! Everyone always "thinks" it's the most accurate thing in the world after a pee pee test but it's not!!!!! Majority of the time I would say it is and perhaps their case was just some sort of freaky thing????

It's a possibility. You can go to your Dr., or you can just wait a while and try again. I took a pregnancy test that was negative after I was about 2 weeks late. I felt symptoms, so I waited about another week or so and took another test, and that one was positive. My daughter is now almost 11 months old, so obviously that first test was wrong! The doctor told me that home tests almost never give false positives, but they can give false negatives. I'd just wait a week or so, and maybe try another brand of test. But if you really want to be sure right now, a blood test is the only way to go.

Because the birth control pill is an abortificant and can cause problems both for you and the potential baby, it is best that you see an OB/Gyn as soon as possible for your heatlth and peace of mind.

Stress can effect your cycle too. I would wait a week to see if it comes. Take another test. If still no period or positive test, go to doctor. It may be too early to tell from a home test. Also, who wants to pay a $30 (or so) co pay for them to tell you you arent pregnant and get your period the next day or something? Dont drink over the weekend, just in case. ;)

I'd give it 5 more days before going to doctor to request a blood test. Are your breast sensitive? Are smells getting to you, you feeling tired all the time? Maybe your moody because your worried about being pregnant at this time. Please let me know how it goes.

I am a mother of 4 ages from 25, to my youngest 11.5. Good luck.
