7 Month Old Soaking Through Diaper and Pj's Overnight- Everynight!

My 7 month old son is 20 lbs. He sleeps great through the night but for the past 7 days he has been soaking thouh his diaper and clothes. I put him to bed on his back and he immediately flips to his side and then belly. All night he is on his belly, and in the AM, he wakes and begins to mildly groan. I pick him up and he is soaked from the waist to his neck! I change him right before bed, even use the size 4 "overnights" by Luvs that have an extra absorbent middle lining....is there anything else I can be doing? He is getting a bit of a rash now on his belly- likely from laying in pee all night! Help?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for all the responses to what to do when my son soaks through his diaper and PJs at night. I tried the overnights, not much different than what we had. But I bought these Diaper Doublers from Dominicks. They look like big maxi pads that you use in the diaper. Works great!!!! Thanks Moms.

I have never used the Luvs brand, but my son wears Huggies overnight diapers, and he has never leaked through.

You've gotten a lot of great advice. My son went through phases where his diaper leaked a lot more than usual.

One thing I did find that worked better was a Bum Genius cloth diaper with both inserts in. He's almost never leaked with the Bum Genius on.

Hi -

My little man did the same thing and we found that huggie's nighttime diaper was the best. It's amazing how much that daiper can hold!!! I also bought one size larger then he needed for just a little extra.

Good luck!

I had the same problem when my son was 7 months (he's now 9 months). We started double diapering him- I used a Pampers size 4 and then put a Pamper size 5 over that. It worked great!

Good luck!

I've found that the Huggies Overnights are the best. My 15mo old was having the same problem. So I bought the Huggies Overnights in a size bigger than he normally wears - tuck the pee pee down and fasten a bit tighter. It seems to be working well for us. Boys always seem to have peeing issues. Good Luck!!

I have always had good luck with Pampers. Either Baby Dry or Cruisers. Whenever I did Huggies, they leaked through. I have tried Luvs and they didn't leak, but I don't think they are absorbent as Pampers are.

I agree with Nicole or you can also fold a cloth diaper and use it like as a liner for extra absorbency. It is cheaper than having to use 2 disposable diapers. I actually made my own liner by taking some cloth diapers, cutting them in 1/2 folding the diaper then stitching around the edges, so it fit nicely in my sons diaper. the only thing is you have to make a few of them unless you wash a white load every day. Worked great for me.

My little guy had the same problem around that age. I swear by the Huggies Overnights. We have not had one leaky night since we started using these!

My daughter is the same way a big girl and she wears Luvs in the day and Huggies overnight at bedtime. That has helped almost everynight! Good luck!
