My 7 1/2 month old used to be a great eater and pretty good sleeper when he was more of a newborn. Now he refuses to eat baby cereal/oatmeal, no matter what I try to make it with or mix in it. He refuses babyfood. He most definately won't eat from a spoon, but recently he started taking a few bites from my finger, but then he's done. He isn't increasing his formula intake in one sitting. He's eating 4 -6 ounces every 3 hours AROUND THE CLOCK. He's gone from waking once a night to going to bed at 10 pm waking at midnight then at 3 and then again around 5 and then 8. My husband and I are exhausted. We have two other kids and never experienced not wanting to eat. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I just want sleep, I don't care if he doesn't eat baby food, just want sleep!! Thanks.

What can I do next?

Have you tried making your own baby food? I found that I could control the consistency and taste when making it at home. That way I could add less water, maybe a little butter ... just things to increase flavor. Also, my daughter despised runny foods, so the thicker, the better. Good Luck!

Do you think his taste has matured to grown-up foods already? Maybe cereal just isn't interesting enough for him in regards to textures and flavors.

I cherish my sleep, too.

Hi M..
I JUST went through this with my daughter 7.5 months and still am going through it.
She would not eat anything, no rice cereal, oatmeal, barely, baby foods, i tried making food, nope she didn't like that either!
she only has one tooth but i started giving her cheeroes, gerber fruit and veggie puffs, YOGURT she LOVES, cheese she will only have a few bites...when i make pasta i cut it up and let her self feed. Also i will make pea/corn and let her self feed, pick them up.
I also found SOUP is great! I was eating tomatoe soup and she LOVED it. so i give her that, Apple butternut squash soup, even chicken noodle, chicken and rice, vegetable, etc. I asked her ped. about the sodium content and he was ok with her eating soups. Trader joes has low sodium soups that i have been buying! she loves this stuff. She just doesnt like the BLAND mushy food... I don't blam her, i wouldnt like it either!
Also i have found...she goes to bed at 6:30, so i will feed her crackers (she loves buttery crackers from Trader Joes) around 5:30 while dinner is making and then at 6 we all sit down and eat dinner, i feed her more food then and then at 6:30 i breastfeed her. She will then sleep till midnight and then nurse and then sleep till 6:30 or 7! Eating food has helped so much. I also give her food through out the day, even if it is just snacks it has helped. (she usually nurses now every 4 hours)
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions.
Good Luck and God Bless...
A.

Hi
What about finger foods? Cheerios, small pieces of soft fruit. Maybe he would be more interested if he could feed himself? Just put a few in front of him and see what he does? Watch for choking!!!!
Good luck
