My 6 month old son is getting his two bottom teeth, I just noticed this this afternoon. He has been restless at night and waking a couple times before going back to sleep. I need some experienced moms who have been through this and know some techniques I can use to help sooth him. Right now I am using baby oragel, but it only works for a short amount of time. He is still working on hand mouth coordination with his cookies (mum mums) so he doesn't really know how to use a teething ring. Any ideas! I will be at home for a week by myself next week seeing my husband is going to a different base to do some classes for work. I just don't want to go out of my mind. lol.

What can I do next?

Teething tabs, Oragel (night formula) and Motrin are my triple combo for teething. Motrin lasts longer than Tylenol. I'm not sure what the Teething Tabs do really, but they seem to really help. I give them this before bed and then later when they wake up if it's been a long enough time to give Motrin. Also, if your guy goes back to sleep easily, you could do Tylenol instead of Motrin when he goes to bed then gently wake him and give him Motrin when you go to bed - that way it's kicked in when you are sleeping!

A cold wash cloth to chew on might be easier for him to get in his mouth, but you may want to put a bib on first so he doesn't get his shirt all wet.

Infant tylenol and teething tablets worked for my girl. I liked to give tylenol over motrin because motrin can upset baby's tummies easier. I also let her suck on a half frozen wash cloth. Even if he's not that great at hand mouth coordination wrap the wash cloth around your finger and stick it in his mouth for him. Let him gnaw on it. You can also use a soft toddler toothbrush, or the baby rubber toothbrushes and rub his gums.
He might still be a little young for this but you can try it. They have those mesh food strainers that you put a solid food in and the baby can just gnaw on it safely without choaking. Try one of those with ice chips in it, or pedilyte pops, even frozen yogurt, frozen fruit...basically anything cold that is age appropraite for him.
When my baby got older and would cut teeth, I would let her chew on frozen waffles. Great thing is they dissolve when they get too wet (so they don't choke), and they get wet because they catch all the drool.
Hang in there! =)

The Humprey's (I think that is the name) teething tables worked for us. They are a white bottle, that you can buy at Target or Walmart. They aren't harmful and they work great. I only use Tylenol every once in a while. The teething tablets usually did the trick and fast. Good luck!!
