Another question..

My daughter woke up this morning complaining about her eye. She says it hurts every time she blinks. I looked at her eye and I can't see anything. No sty, no bumps, not watery, no anything, but she says it hurt. She can rub it and I blew in her eye several times, but it's still hurting.

Any idea what this can be?

What can I do next?

Sounds like it may be a scratch which would not be visable. Try rinsing with saline or warm water.

warm rag on her eyelid with her eye closed for bout 4 to 5 min to pull out anything that might have gotten in it. If it still does not feel better let an eye doctor take a look at it

A scratch on the eye can feel like a piece of sand in the eye that hurts when you blink. But it shouldn't last more than a day or so. If it does, see the optometrist.

Could be a stye? which IF somewhat below the skin, you may not see it. ask which part of her eye is aching... then turn the lid up and or down... If you see a something like looks like a pimple .. then you may want to use a hot compress . (that is what my eye doctor had me do) ... if after a few days you see no results, they can give you antibiotics or drops..

Sounds like a cornea scratch. Painful and common, nothing you can see. Whatever was in her eye is gone, but the scratch remains. Have her checked. They may want to give her something, or have her wear a patch for a few days until it heals. It's easy to detect on an eye exam. Call the pediatrician and see if he/she can do it or if they want to send you to the ophthalmologist. There are some who specialize in kids and/or have waiting areas and equipment designed to make kids feel comfortable.

Do not let her rub it again, and do not blow in it! You can rinse gently with an eye cup (available in any pharmacy)but it may be hard for her to use. By rubbing and blowing, if there's anything in there, you're just moving it around or blowing more stuff in. Air isn't going to get rid of anything stuck to the wet surface of the eye anyway - it's just going to dry things out.
