4 Yr Old Has Gross Green Snot for a Long Time
My 4 yr old son has had gross green snot for over 4 weeks. I would think that it was a sinus infection but he has never had a fever and doesn't have any other symptoms--no headaches, no sore throat etc. Just really green snot. I really don't want to put him on antibiotics because I think that if he had an bacterial infection he would have a fever. Has any one else expierenced this or have a good home remedy for getting rid of the green snot. Thanks

You could try Neil-Med nasal rinses twice a day. You can get the kit at any Wal-Greens or in the National Jewish Hospital gift shop, which is actually cheaper. It does sound like a sinus infection, though. I never run a fever when I have one. The sinus rinse may relieve it a bit, possibly enough for the body to clear it up, but it's better as a preventative. You don't want an infection to go too long as it can become chronic. I have gotten rid of my chronic infections using this rinse.

Hi J., went through the same thing and it turned out to be environmental allergies. Green is not always a sign of infection. My daughter didn't have specific allergies towards anything. Good luck.

My doc told us to watch for green snot as it is a sign of bacterial infection. It wouldn't hurt to call and ask your nurse. Good luck. Amy

I have had many sinus infections and never once have had a fever with any of them. Does he ever complain that his teeth hurt? Mine will hurt sometimes and I also get headaches.

I have had sinus infections for 30 years and never a fever. The color green tells me that it is a sinus infection. I never let it go beyond yellow anymore.
