I posted a while ago. Great advice. Looks like these may be the ones. Considered Suburban and Navigator-- seem too big for my 3, 3 and under. Don't want a minivan. Love all of you who have one but not in the market for one. Thoughts on which one is easier with 2 car seats and one bucket/baby seat? Plus storage? Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much!! We got a Toyota Sequoia Limited. It has the captain's seat. Very excited. It is a nice ride. Bigger. Feel like we have options for the configurations. The console in the middle of the middle row comes out. Great to get back to the back for kids and adults. Once again-- wonderful input. I appreciate the advice. ALWAYS.

What car seats do you have? You will need at least 3 Teathers for carseats. Tethers are the ones that go behind the seat and help reduce head movement in an accident. LATCH are the lower anchors in the vehicle seat. Once your children hit 40lbs, you need to use the Seatbelt and Tether to install the carseats. All Honda's have 40lb LATCH limit, the dealerships have no clue about LATCH or Tethers. When we went car shopping they had no clue what a Tether was. I did have 06 Pilot and loved it. But getting to the 3rd row with 3car seats was not always fun. I had 2 Graco Nautilus in the 3rd row. One on the driver side, the other on the Passenger side. I also had a Rearfacing Britax wizard in the middle row passenger side. It was easier to get to the 3rd row with the wizard passenger side on the 40 split bench then it was to have it on the 60split bench. I have also had Graco Safeseat Passenger side middle row. The passenger had no leg room with the Safeseat there.
I have also had all in the middle row...RearFacing wizard passenger LATCH install, Graco Nautilus middle seatbelt tether install, and Graco Nautilus driver side seatbelt tether install. All were indepdently tight with less then 1in of movement at the belt path. I do know in the 09 Pilot it has 3 sets of LATCH and 6 Tethers. LATCH is driver and passenger side in the middle row, and in the third row its passenger side.
The best thing to do is try the car seats in the car befor you buy the car. I now drive a 09 Odyssey and I am loving the mini van life. Much easier to get to the third row and very very roomy.

I always wanted a Sequoia but when I went started car shopping it was a little expensive for me. I ended up getting a Armada/Pathfinder and I love it. It is easy to get in & out of with 2 car seats & plenty of room for the older kids to get back to the 3rd row. I would go with the Sequoia because I know it has lots of room. Good luck!

My boss had a sequoia; it was nice, but very big. (Almost too big a lot of the time.) I am not familiar with the Pilot. I don't know if it would work for you, but have you considered a vehicle with a folding third row of seating? We have a LandCruiser, and it has been great. I am not sure if it would meet your needs, since the third row seat does not offer a ton of leg room, but, I really enjoy having ours. It is big enough to hold lots of people, small enough to park easily and my husband likes it because it is very capable. It actually corners better than my Acura. I hope this is some help; sorry to be throwing something else into the mix! : )

Good question, I will have 3 under 4 in 5 months, we are in the same situation. I like the Sequoia, if I am not mistaken it is much larger than a Pilot. The negative is gas mileage. Did you look at the Saturn Outlook or the Buick Enclave? If I were able to buy "new", I would be looking at those....since they are newer models and I have to buy "used", I am looking at the Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and a few other things.

Good luck!

I say Sequoia. Don't have any experience with a Pilot but have 2 friends that have one. My Sequoia seems bigger and has been a great car for the past 5 years. Either way you'll have a nice ride :-) Oh, one more thing...the new Sequoia's are much more child friendly than the older models. More LATCH's and an independent center seat in the 2nd row (if you get the model with the bench seat). My 5 year old Sequoia is missing a few things the new one has :-(
