It could be. Walking always helped me tell braxton hicks and labor apart. If it is just braxton hicks it would go away with walking and with labor it got more intense and closer together.

Try walking around. Braxton Hicks will normally let up with walking, while true labor will stay the same or intensify with walking. Call your dr. if you have any concerns or if the contractions get more intense or more frequent

Drink something, eat something, lay on your left side, take a bath or shower, walk around...any of those things alone or in combination will stave off Braxton Hicks contractions.

What you're describing is exactly what my BH felt like around the same time. If what I've heard is to be believed, the second pregnancy BH are more intense....they also get more intense as you near actual labor.

Good luck.

It could be , monitor it and if they become painful and stronger then likely you are in labor , but braxton hicks can get pretty strong and painless towards the end of pregnany

how many weeks are you?

When in doubt call the Dr. They will advise you. But, if they start getting closer and close you are probably in labor.

I had Braxton-Hicks that felt that way. They didn't really hurt. But when I was induced and in "real" labor, I hurt. I had no doubt what they were.

You need to drink a glass or two of water and put your feet up.

Sounds like a really strong braxton hicks. Full blown labor will be excruciating. The contractions will get closer together and they will get stronger. True labor wont stop once it starts. Have a big drink of water, take a bath and or lay on your left side and if they stop then it is not labor. If that doesn't change the situation call the doc.

If they are regular and getting closer together, then it is probably early labor, Call your doctor and ask him if you should come in and get checked. You don't want to go labor yet.. Rest and drink a lot of fluids.

I'm a birth doula -- this is what I would tell a client in your situation -- First an important question -- are you leaking any fluid during these contractions? If so, call your doctor. It is probably more intense Braxton Hicks contractions or prodromal labor, which can literally go on for weeks. If it is causing you stress, which it sounds like it is, perhaps you should call your midwife/doctor and be seen. All three times I gave birth, I wondered if what I was feeling was labor, but when it actually was, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, but that's me. Every woman is different. Most women feel labor as quite painful, but some don't -- some just feel a bit achey and then suddenly pop out a baby. Some women labor for days, some for an hour. As others have said, if the contractions get closer together or more intense definitely call your doctor -- You're a little early for labor (though are you absolutely sure of your due date?) Braxton Hicks contractions can get more intense as you get closer to your due date. A bath can slow them down or stop them if they're not labor. Also, as someone else said, walking tends to decrease BH but increase labor. Dehydration can cause contractions -- make sure you get yourself super-hydrated -- drink a lot of water today. And relax and make sure to get some rest and make sure to eat easy to digest food -- if this is early labor, you'll need the rest and energy. Feel free to write to me privately if you want.

Smae thing happened to me, all the time. Braxton Hicks with a breathless feeling. It definitely doesn't sound like labor. Don't worry. Your little one is probably going to stay put for the next 5 weeks.
