32 Weeks Pregnant and Fell This Afternoon

I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and took a mild fall this afternoon. I fell forward when I encountered some bricks that were uneven in a sidewalk. I took the fall on my hands and belly never touched the ground. My husband thinks that I should see the DR - but it seems rather unnecessary. I don't think that I really need the OB to put some neosporin on my palms and I am certain that I didn't break anything.

Am I not being cautious enough?

Thanks! C.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks so much everyone! It didn't occur to me to call the Dr. with my husband on the phone so he could hear them tell me that it was nothing. They ran through the usual list of symptoms (which I have none) and gave the speech about how the baby is still very cushioned in the fluid. My only problem is skinned palm, skinned knees and hurt pride. Oh, and my favorite pants now have a hole in the knee! Husband is much relieved and off my case so thanks so much for that suggestion. Have a good night!

I would call the OB - just to make hubby feel better - he loves you very much and I think sometimes they worry more than we do. Are you still feeling the baby move around - it might help him to feel better if he feels the baby moving :)

They say that so long as you are not feeling crampy and not spotting, then it's usually okay. It doesn't sound like it was a real bad fall.

Yeah I agree with the others--if you aren't cramping/bleeding, then I wouldn't worry. You didn't hit your belly. The baby probably didn't even get jiggled around too much with all the fluid around him/her protecting him/her. It's nice that you have such a concerned hubby though! If you DO start to feel pains then definitely go see your OB/GYN.

No...your belly didn't even have any impact. If you don't have any cramping or bleeding, no need to go in.
If he's unsure, he should call the office on your behalf and let them tell him the same thing.

As long as you are having no pains in the bump area , and no bleeding then I think you will be fine. Just keep an eye on yourself , take it easy and if you notice anything unsual then speak to your OB.

I agree that you are probably fine. You could call your OB just to put your husband's mind at ease. I was in a minor car accident when I was pregnant and the dr. said that babies are pretty well insulated from injury. I just needed to watch for anything abnormal.

I agree with Suzi if youre not cramping or bleeding vaginally you'll be fine.

If it gives you peace of mind, I'd say call the doctor and get their opinion.

The human body really protects that baby well in utero, but you never know. If it were me (because I'm a worrier), I'd probably call just to be safe. The chances of you actually getting a bad infection from the scrapes is minimal, but you never know......they may be concerned about tetanus or another potentially harmful bacterial infection the rest of us aren't aware of.
