3 Weeks Late...

I'm 3 weeks late and both urine and blood tests have come back negative for pregnancy. I'm usually very regular. I did have thryoid test done about 1 year ago and it was slightly elevated but I did not go on meds for it. Has anyone experienced a thyroid problem and had it cause probs with your cycles? Could I be prego even if every test is showing negative?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

My period finally started just over 3 weeks late. I had my thyroid tested and my result came back more elevated than a year ago. I will be going to see my doctor this week to discuss how to treat it and the effects any treament can have on a future pregnancy if we ever get pregnant. I am hoping to find a way to treat it without medication.

Yes. had major problems with my cycle until I went on meds and I was not even completely "eleveated" according to every doctor. Get tested again (you should do it every year and more often as you are going through pregnancy and post). The medication has no side effects and ony benefits for me (more energy, regular cycles) and is not expensive.

Hi B., if the blood test is negative then you aren't pregnant. BetaHcG shows presents in the blood quite early.(I do these tests as part of my job, and had my own pregnancy confirmed via blood test at 3 weeks) Are you under any additonal stress? (other than working full time both in and out of the home..wow!) Stress does it for me, I once went 18 months without a period because of stress in my life. Also weight loss, if you've lost quite a bit lately or are under weight. Give your doctor a call, your thyroid could very well be up to no good. good luck with finding your answer.

Yes, I have had thyroid problems and they did cause problems with my cycle. Get your levels checked again.

Look into copper toxicity.

I had two negative pregnancy tests before I found out that I was pregnant (I think they were both urine tests, but one was at home and the other was at the dr.). I would do a few more pregnancy tests if you don't think it is a thyroid problem.

I had the same thing happen and then finally my period returned. I am also very regular so I was a little worried and I had the doctor run a blood test to make sure I wasn't pregnant.
A year later, I had a similar situation but it wasn't until I was 6 weeks late that the pregnancy test finally came up positive and now I have a beautiful 11 month old boy.

Don't worry and good luck!

I have an elevated thyroid issues and I'm on meds. I have had no problems with my cycle. I did not have problems before my thyroid meds either. I do feel better now though, lots more energy! I think you should go see your doctor.

Thyroid disorders can mess with your cycle and fertility, not something to mess with- See an endocrinologist or naturopath asap!
