My son had that problem all over his thighs. We used a lotion called Amylactin and it worked in just a couple days. We still use it anytime he gets a rash or anything! It is a great lotion. You can buy it right off the shelve and it is awesome! Hope it works for you like it did for us!

Hello... My daughter, now 8 has had eczema her whole life(along with some other major health issues) and we tried everything!!! Her pulmonologist about 2 years ago said she had something for us to try and it has worked like a charm ever since.. SO here is what we do, in case you want to try it...

We only bathe her every other day if we can get away with it and use the regular baby magic (because i like the smell better) baby wash very sparingly.
Dont scrub, just rub lightly and let her soak, rinse her off in cool water really well, when you dry her off, just pat gently and let her air dry if possible.
We then have a mixture (you will need 2 of the 3 prescribed) of 3 different ingredients. Just mix it in 3rds as needed in a Tupperware container.
Bactroban 2% cream
Clobetasol Prop 0.05% Foam
Aquaphor Healing Ointment Baby
After you put the mixture on her, kinda thick, lotion her whole body with Keri Original lotion (the blue one, does not have lanolin or alcohol in it)
then cover her in some long pjs so it all stays on her.
Do it again the next day in the morning, afternoon and evening (without the bath, if possible) and in a couple of days you should see a world of difference!

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

It isn't possible even for a doctor to diagnose skin issues without seeing them. I would go back to the doctor if the cream isn't working. Remember that most skin issues take a long time to clear up, so if you've been using the cream for several weeks, then I would check in with the doctor.

One thing my daughter had when she was young was Molluscum Contagiosum. It's really not as bad as the name sounds, and though they claim is it very contagious, no one else in our family got it nor any other child at her daycare. It was tiny white bumps that showed up on her body and stayed for a looong time. They went away on their own eventually. If you pick them, they may leave tiny scars.

But again, there are many causes of skin irritations and bumps, so I would get another qualified opinion from a doctor or dermatologist.

In the summer I get the same prickly heat rash. It itches and burns at the same time. using sunscreen makes it worse w/blotchy patches around it. I think a sunburn is easier to deal with and less painful. Lotion makes my skin feel like it has a chemical burn like using Nair...once was enough. The lotions from the store no matter how expensive still have alcohol in it and forms of sodium.
I started making goat milk soap as a project to teach our 4-H club. I can use the soap from head to toe-my daughter shaves her legs with it & my son is using it to shave his face. I also make a body butter I put it on while I'm still damp from the shower on my face to my feet. I started selling both my products in different scents about $1.00 an ounce. I'm listed under local businesses on mamapedia.com JUST LIKE GRAMA MOM'S goat milk soap/body butter. or you could probably find it close to home.
I haven't bought soap or lotion in almost a year & 6 months for laundry soap.
I make my own laundry soap too. You might have to go to a borax and washing soda mix for laundry soap. It dissolves in cold water.
Good luck
I feel for your daughter. I know how she feels 8 >(.

It's very possible that it's keratosis pilaris. I have it. It's a permanent condition, but can be minimized with certain soaps and lotions. I do think that you should take her to a pediatric dermatolgist to confirm your pediatrician. Good luck.

My best recommendation is to go to a dermatologist. Our pediatrician is really good about knowing his limitations, and when our daughter came down with a rash before her first birthday, he suspected eczema but referred us to a Dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis/treatment plan.

We're able to manage our daughter's eczema with a good, OTC lotion (now 2 years-old). But, that was the advice of the dermatologist once she was able to determine the severity and cause.

Good luck. I know it's no fun.

dear L., i agree with the below. check with your dr. first if what you are using is not working.

aside from that, some thoughts:
1. anything that comes into contact with your daughter's skin change recently? laundry detergent, softener, pillow cases/sheets/towels....

2. sunblock?

3. new park?

My 4 year old son has the same thing. He has had it for a few years. It is called Keratosis and is genetic and there is really nothing you can do about it. Washing thouroughly and using lotion regularly helps but it is never going to go away. I have several extended family members with the same condition in varying degrees. I know its hard, especially for a girl, but try not to make a big deal of it, you don't want to help your child into a complex.

Good luck

Sounds like keratosis pilaris. My 8yr old has had it since he was a baby. Remember hwen newborns have milia, the little white 'pimples' on their face after birth? Its similar to that. No harm, just cosmetic.
