Hi Moms... we are pregnant with our 2nd child. =)
DO you normally feel all the signs and symptoms earlier with a 2nd child? My first one was great -- barely any nausea, hardly any discomfort until the last trimester... But this one -- I have gone to see the doctor yet, but went to a clinic, which said I am around 5 weeks. I have been nauseous for 2 weeks everyday for like 6 hours a day. I've also noted that my belly is getting big already....Any and all input is welcome. Thanks and have a great day.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much!!! I was starting to think I was making myself ill --- even my husband said I was psychosomatic. Now I n=know 'm not the only one and I am not crazy -- I will definitely get that arm band TODAY.... Ladies, i wish you well with your beautiful babies.

I've have four children and each pregnancy was different. I do recall that with the second child (which came about 1 1/2 years after my first son) my body seemed to whiplash into pregnancy mode. I think our bodies get revved up that second time faster. I want to encourage you that having nausea means that your hormone levels are pretty healthy which is great. I would be more concerned if you were failing to have symptoms. Try drinking Pelligrino. No other sparkling water worked for me and my OB said that they are not created equal. Pell. has a high calcium content. Also, nibble on some candied ginger. The sugar and the ginger both comfort a queazy tummy. I hope this helps! Congratulations!!!!

I'm 28 weeks with my second one and I will tell you it's completely different than my first. I was not sick at all with my first, no weird issues, nothing. This one I was sick (nauseous and vomiting) for the whole first trimester. My pants were snug at 8 weeks. I feel the pressure that with my first I didn't feel til the 3rd trimester. I also felt her move ALOT sooner. I can swear I felt her at like 11 weeks. I have totally different cravings and symptoms as well. So yep...you can feel a lot earlier with the second but it's also going to be entirely different. Congrats!!!

I'm finding the same things out. My first pregnancy went SO smooth, and this one (I'm about ten weeks now) I've gone in and out of "flu like" symptoms which have been horrible! I've attributed it to the fact that my first was a boy and I'm thinking this one is a girl....
We'll see.
Anyway, I'm picking up some accupressure bracelets at REI that are designed for morning sickness. I'll let you know if they work!
:)
Congratulations!

As the others mentioned, all preg is different. Your OB will probably tell you that you will feel things earlier and the belly will show earlier - you and your body knows what pregnancy feels like this time around. Both of my pregnancies were totally different but wonderful - had nausea with second but not first, craved different foods, had siatica with one but not the other, was more tired with the first then with the second, etc.
Good luck!

I've had 4 kids, and they were all a little different. I wasn't sick at all with my first or second. My second pregnancy just turned me into an emotional whirlwind and a clutz. With 3 I was horribly sick, and with 4 I had few symptoms at all. The only consistency was that I popped out sooner each time and I felt the baby move sooner. I was told that it's because your uterus and muscles have thinned and are weaker.

I've only had one pregnancy but I've been told that each is different, and that you show faster with subsequent pregnancies. That said - re: the nausea - I highly recommend getting some "sea bands" - they are an acupressure remedy for sea sickness and they work wonders for nausea. I had friends telling me that I could take this that or the other thing - and for me it wasn't worth it - there are people now who have cancers attributed to things that their mothers took in the 60s when they were pregnant. You can get the sea bands in the pharmacy where they sell motion sickness pills - I know that Walgreens has them, I've seen Walmart order them for people. They really work! I was terribly nauseous for my entire pregnancy - 24 hours a day. A midwife told me about the sea bands and I bought them immediately - when I took them off to take a shower - I literally couldn't get dried off and put them back on fast enough. Basically - they look like little sweat bands with a button on the inside. You position them with the button on the inside of your wrist - in the center, about two finger widths back from that big crease at the heel of your palm. Also - I carried saltine crackers around everywhere - if I waited too long to eat the nausea was much worse - so I could snack on a cracker or two and have a sip of water and that would buy me the time I needed to get real food without falling apart.
Good luck & congratulations!

Oh yes! I am currently 21 weeks with my second..and like you my 1st was a dream pregnancy..this one in the beginning I was soo sick and fatigued! And yes you will find that you feel you look 5 months pregnant starting at month 2! LOL! But other people have told me its because your body knows what to do and your belly is softened and stretched. But you will be aware earlier when you feel baby move and all the other great things. I feel more confident with this pregnancy and aware of all the things going on..Now if only I can figure out how I am going to handle a toddler and an infant..LOL! Good Luck!

Yes, with each pregnancy, it starts so much sooner. It will all pass but it may take a while.
