I have had a tremendous time with my middle child on teething. He has had such a horrible time with it and does not handle it very well. He never runs fever he just get very unconsolable. I use motrin at night and during the day I use tylenol. I use night time oragel with extra pain relief in it day and night cause the regular one does not work very well and is pretty much a waste of time. Last week I had my third child by c- section so my husband is having to put him in the bed with me at 1 or 2 in the morning cause he can not get him back to sleep.. so the motrin and the oragel is not helping him sleep throught the night also he is very fussy all day long not a minute goes by that he is not sscreaming about one thing or an ohter. I was wondering if any one had any other advise to help him I am not losing sleep cause I am taking care of a newborn anyway! By the way it is his 2nd molars so I know I am in it for the long haul and I am looking for the little man to get relief and be a little happier if possible. Thanks in advance!!!!

What can I do next?

My son was having issues with teething too...and the Pharmacist told me about Hyland's teething tablets....My son is only 18 month and will take the tablets when offered to him...He seems to like them and doesn't complain about his teeth...I think they helped him sleep better too..It's worth the try!! Good luck!!!

My two suggestions for teething are Hyland's Teething Tablets, a homeopathic "medicine", and an amber teething necklace. It's odd to think about it helping, but real baltic amber, when worn on the skin, uses the skin's warmth to release it's analgesic properties into the wearer. I used them on my second child, who had a much harder time with teething and wearing one seemed to work for her. You want them to wear it as much as possible. Wearing the necklace around the neck isn't very safe at night, so many people will wrap the necklace around the ankle of the baby before putting a sleeper on.

I started developing a lot of pain in my hand/fingers after my third was born. I think it's the way I hold him while burping him. I started wearing a bracelet and I notice a HUGE difference. If I take it off to wash dishes and forget to put it back on, I really notice a difference.

The WAHM I like that makes real Baltic amber jewelry is Inspired by Finn www.hyenacart.com/inspiredbyfinn She ships super fast, too.

I have six children and I loved the all natural teething tablets.. there are different brands and you usually have to ask the pharmacist. I would give them 3-5 and it has a calming effect...... you may know about them.. but anyway thought i would share... ____@____.com

you can buy teething tablets at Walmart by the vitamins. If not ask the pharmacy dept. where they are located. My 18 month old gets really ill cutting teeth, throws up, high fever, sometimes wont eat, sometimes wont drink his bottle.
The motrin is far better for teething pain than tylenol. (a nurse told me this) I give 3 teething tablets & the motrin combined, this go round with him cutting his jaw teeth, we even with to the regular strength orajel. The nightime is 7.5 strength & the regular os 10%.He needed that extra!
It will not hurt your baby to give him the teeething tablets along with the motrin. The teething tablets are all natural. I also buy ice from Sonic & put him his hairchair with it, it soothes the gums.
I well know the heart ache of a teething baby, especially one that has a hard time with it. My other 6 didnt but he sure has!
You can also try a little childrens benedryl at night to help him rest (if it doesnt have the opposite effect on him) some kids it makes hyper but rarely. (Try it during naptime to make sure ) If he doesnt doesnt start bouncing off the walls & stay awake, you'll be ok at nite to give it to him :) It helps mine rest when he is hurting.
My 95 yr old grandmother takes benedryl everynight to help her sleep & her heart doctor is the one who told her, it will not harm her.
Best Wishes!

Hi. I feel for you...deeply! My daughter is teething too and seems to be cranky a lot! I have tried Orajel too and it doesn't work for very long. I give her teething tablets and they seem to work very well. They don't have any medicine in them which is great too and you just put it under their tongue and they dissolve immediately. I buy mine from either walmart or target but you can probably get them at any grocery store. Check either with the vitamins or maybe in the baby teething area or the pharmacy. At target they were in the pharmacy but at walmart they were at the bottom shelf of the vitamin section. Good luck!

I am right there with you! Teething has been a struggle for my now 21-month-old, and we still haven't gotten to the second year molars! Here is what helps us. I give a dose of Children's Motrin before bed, then if she wakes in pain, I give her a dose of Infant Tylenol. That dose of Tylenol really does the trick! During the day, I give her cold teething rings, or a cold, wet, rag to chew on. Another idea I am going to try, is to get one of those fresh food net feeders and putting ice or frozen fruit in there for her to chew on. Congrats on the new baby, and I hope your little guy starts sleeping better soon!

Here is my trick:
If he uses a pacifer, bottles (well the nipples), teething gel, and teething rings, keep them all in the fridge. They coolness helps with soreness andfeels good on the gums.

Try Hurricaine Gel! It has (if memory serves - it has been years since I used it) 20% benzocaine. That is more than any of the regular OTC's have. It is also thicker in consistency and really stays put. It doesn't taste great, but he won't care quickly, because the numbness sets in. It is along the same lines as the gel that the dentist uses before injecting novacaine.

You will almost certainly have to ask for it at the pharmacy window. It doesn't require a prescription, but it's a little expensive. It is worth it though, I wouldn't have a teething kiddo without it!

Best of luck.

Our family takes a natural product that has anti-inflammatory properties (a natural cox 2 inhibitor, which can help with pain). It is safe for children and pregnant/nursing mothers and you can give it along with the motrin/tylenol. FYI-my Grandkids-ages 2 & 4 love it and it helps support their immune system (haven't had to take them to the doctor in over a year) If you would like to try it, respond back, I have single samples I can mail to you.
Blessings,
K.

There are some holistic teething tablets (different brands make them) in the baby section of the stores by the Orajel- they kind of help our son. We also did lots of popsicles.
