Just wanted to tell you that my first one had his first tooth at 3 months old! :) yep you read right, he was only three months old. So don't worry and buy lots of bibs. :)

Carry around as many bibs as you do diapers and change probably even more often.

He could be teething, but it is more likely just normal devlopment of the digestive system.

Some babies can teeth at that age. Doesn't mean he/she will cut any teeth. Wet a wash cloth and put in fridge until frozen then give it to the baby to naw on. My son showed signs of teething when he was 3 months old. Good luck and congrats on your newborn!

Drooling can be a sign of teething, but at your baby's age it is typically a sign that his digestive system is starting to prepare for solid food. Around 3 months of age the saliva production significantly increases. Saliva is very important in digestion. Babies don't know how to swallow it yet so they drool.

remember teething is a long process. my daughter did the same thing until about 5 months and then it just stopped one day ( probably because she learned to swallow it instead of it drool out) teeth came a few months later.

Drooling is normal! They drool all the time for the entire first year. Just have lots of bibs on hand.

Some babies drool this much. Put on a thick bib or one with a water resistant back. And don't worry. This is normal. I can think of no reason for it to be a health issue.

at that age they don't have the abilitty to swallow yet, so it's just that their saliva glands have kicked in, but they haven't learned how to swallow it yet.
It does NOT indicate teeth honestly. I thought it did when my first was that age, but she didn't get teeth till 11 mos old. Since then, after caring for many babies, I have learned.

Teething, no not too little..

That said, it still may takes many weeks for it to come through.. He will be come fussy, get diarrhea and may make his sleep habits change.. Consider some type of teething tablets and ask your doctor about some sort of baby tylenol for just in case he needs it soon..

Our daughter liked to chew on a frozen baby wash cloth. I kept them in the freezer for when she needed to chew for relief..

Teething can begin VERY early. My son had is first tooth at 6 mos and had ALL of them yes, ALL of them by 18mos. So, there is no rhyme or reason to the amount of saliva. It is all OK! Have lots of bibs on hand so that his clothes aren't always soaked.

Yes, he could be teething. My granddaughter cut her first tooth at 3 1/2 mths and got the rest of her baby teeth about 6-8mths earlier than what is considered normal. Also lost her first tooth at 4 yrs old.

Like a lot of others have suggested use the cold washcloth to help relieve some of the discomfort. I don't put it in the freezer but in the refrig. I worry that chomping down on a frozen cloth could hurt their gums. Hyland's Teething Tablets worked great, but I think they were recalled recently.

Good luck,

My 11 week old started the same thing around 6 weeks. I asked the doctor and she said it could be because of teething but not likely. I didn't really get an answer to why so I would be interested in other responses. The drooling as slowed down a bit now. Thanks!
