So What Happened?™
well i talked to both her ent and her pedi and they both said because she had a virus a week ago that this could be the tail end of it and that if she isnt running fever or lathargic or throwing up to watch her and if it doesnt get better in 3 or 4 days then to call back and make an appt...by the way she has had her adnoids removed and tubes put in her ears almost a year ago

That virus has gone around my house and there's not much you can do for the voice except plenty of liquids...room temp to warm like tea or warm milk may make her throat feel better. As far as sleeping, it may be a cough or drainage that's keeping her up so some Benedryl and a cough suppressant may also help. It hangs on for about a week.

Yes hon I had a son who use to do the same thing.. Go to your nearest Walmart/pharmacy, get some ELIXER for infants, (has a great grape flavor) give her a spoon of this and put vicks under her little nose this should clear her up within 4 to 5 days. Gove the Ekixer 3 times a day, it will helo her rest more then you can imagine, The vicks helps he to breath in a smooth mannor I would say she has allergies and both of these meds help that. Let me know how this works...

Hi,
I am a Speech Pathologist in Midland. I recommend that you go to an Ear, Nose and Throat Dr. to just check things out. Unless she has been crying/coughing a lot, there is no reason she should be "losing" her voice. Better to be on the safe side! Good luck, L.

YOu might want to get a strep test just in case. I was shocked when I found out my girls had strep. They didn't have sore throats but were crankier then usual and had funny voices.

If she's not running fever or anything, then she probably has allergies. Try a little Benedryl or Claritin and see if that helps. It will also help her sleep.

For our daughter, our pediatrician recommended that we use a cool-water humidifier in her room at nap times and overnight. The extra moisture helps her breath more easily and even helps with dry skin. It works great.
Also, if you suspect that she is having sinus drainage down the back of her throat, try saline drops in her nose before going to bed. You can make your own or buy some at the grocery or drug store. It is simply salt water, and we found that it works great for helping for washing stuff out.
