15 Month Old Soaks Diaper Every Night

My 15 month old son pees though his diaper every night. He still drinks his milk each night but I've been limiting it lately to 4 ounces right before bed (which he is still not happy about since he loves his milk). I've tried doubling up his diapers which makes him mad and he wakes up in the middle of the night crying until I take one off. I've tried Huggies, Pampers and the FIsher Price nighttime diapers and none of them work. I also buy the bigger size (he's in size 3 regular diapers but for nighttime I buy size 4).Does anyone have any suggestions?
THanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the responses. I purchased the diaper doublers at Babies R US and we haven't had a leak since. He still gets his milk at night, we get our cuddle time and now we don't have to deal with the mess. THANK YOU!

I haven't read the responses...but we experience the same thing with my daughter. I line her diaper (larger size for night) with an overnight maxi pad. It does the trick.

I love Costco's Kirkland brand diapers. They come up higher in the front and the back...I guess they are just bigger overall. The tabs are wider too so they are easier to get positioned perfectly. They are super absorbent too (and cheaper!).

I would first consult his doctor in case the large urine volume is indicative of sugar (diabetes) or infection (urinary tract infection). Then, if he checks out normal medically, I would look at diapers that fit tight and possibly a pad called diaper doubler (if this is still made). This was a pad that was put into a diaper to make it absorb more urine.

Hmm. I give my son his 3 or 4 oz of milk about an hour before his bedtime, so he hopefully pees one more time in his regular diaper before I put on his 'nighttime diaper' (the one a size bigger, just like you do). That seems to do the trick most of the time. I let him sip about 1 oz of water when we cuddle immediately before bed. No more milk. He fusses sometimes (milk-lover) but gets over it. He's 2.5 yrs.

In the past, instead of two diapers, I have put a woman's sanitary pad in the diaper. Not as bulky as two diapers. Just make sure it sticks to the diaper and not to your son's bottom.

I have also stopped using Huggies and Pampers all together. Had too many issues with them. Switched to LUVS and have been happy ever since. We get a leaky diaper maybe once a month. Often I realize he got too much to drink too late on those days.

My son was the same way at that age (in fact, at 3 years, he still likes his milk when it is time for bedtime stories). I found that that Huggies Overnites worked the best (I even use them for longer trips during the day when it might be difficult to change him). But perhaps going a size larger is not the way to go? I found that the too-large diapers often fit loosely, thus making it more leak-prone.

Perhaps the best way would be to try to change him in the middle of the night without waking him completely (I know, easier said than done). How long has this been going on, it could even just be a month or two month phase he is going through. He could grow out of it any time. Though in the meantime, you might want to invest in an extra sheet and waterproof mattress pad! Try not to worry about it too much. I have found that most physical developments occur at their own time--even if it doesn't make it easy for us!

I had this same problem with my daughter. Eventually I went into the huggies overnight 2 sizes up, and that worked. My husband remembers something called "diaper doublers" from his older 2 but I never found them.

good luck.

Haven't read the other suggestions so sorry if this is a repeat. I use the nighttime diapers PLUS a bladder control pad.

make sure your kid isnt drinking too much milk through out the day....that can make them anemic. they dont need to guzzle milk all day. if you switch him to water before bed hell likely drink a lot less

Maxi pad. Make sure his weenie is pointing "down"! You can get diaper doublers (used mostly with cloth diapers but you can put O. in a disposable).

At 1`5 months he should not have a feeding at bed time. mine at 15 months had 3 meals a day, toddler snacks, and a bed time snack (NO LIQUID) mine were dry in the mornings at 17 1/2 months old. J.

My daughter is the same way, drives me crazy! I do a number of things. I use a bigger diaper, Huggies only, everything else I try is worse. I also go in and check about 4 hours into the night. I go in and check her. If she has potty in the diaper I change her mid-night. I haven't found anything else that works.

Good luck!

My 2 year old son went through the same thing for several months. Thankfully, he's worked it out now. But this is what I tried with some amount of success. I've found that Luvs are the most absorbent, even moreso than the Huggies and Pampers nighttime diapers. Also, I put him in onesies or something that he couldn't get his hands into so he couldn't play with the diaper. I also invested in a few extra waterproof mattress pads. Just like my son, he will eventually work it out.

Try using a size bigger diaper. My 16 month old also get his milk before bed and hasn't leaked in a long while. I use Seventh Generation diapers, but the size I get is the one at which he is at the lower end of the recommended range. Good luck.

We don't give a bottle at bedtime. Our doc reco's about 14-16 oz a day. which is only two bottles a day for our son. So he gets one in the morning when he wakes up and one midday. We just let him sip water before bed. This usually is enough for him to already have a full nightime-size diaper. Good luck!
