13 Yr Old Birthday Party

Looking for suggestions for my 13 yr old girl's upcoming birthday party. In January so a pool party is too iffy-although we do have a heated pool so maybe. She wants boys and girls. Something grand (she says!).
She's a third child so definitley more mature than a first or only. She goes to middle school dances once a month, most of her friends have boy girl parties and then the girls sleep over while the boys go home at 11 or so. It will probably be some variation of this but any ideas on how to make it different?
She wants 20 or so kids so a night at a hotel is out-too many kids. We usually do things like that but she wants a big party for a change.
THANKS!

A few years ago when my son did the 13-year-old boy/girl parties, they did a lot of scavenger hunts and small bonfires (or outside fireplaces) where they just hung out, roasted marshmallows and took goofy pictures.

Movie parties and video game parties are popular around here for kids that age. If there is an indoor pool in your area, you can go with that if she really wants a pool party.

We had our daughter's 13th at the country club with DJ, dancing, lights, food, prizes, etc.

Everyone had a good time. I think we had about 60 people there, boys and girls. We just wanted everyone to have a good time and enjoy. We stated no gifts on the invitations.

We had prizes for hula hoop contest, dance off, and drew tickets for prizes.

Wow- you guys throw great parties!

This may be illegal (not sure), but you could contract with a game company and do a "Casino Night" at your house. I remember a friend's Sweet 16 party being a casino night and we did one as a sorority fund raiser when I was in college. It was a lot of fun and kind of different. At the end of the night, you traded in your chips for little prizes (16th) or raffle tickets for prizes (college).

For my Daughter’s 13th bday we had a huge party for her but she just invited girls. We did karaoke, Charades, Twister & Mad Gab, games outside like water balloon toss (girls LOVED that!).

Our downstairs living room is large so we played music and opened up the area for the girls to dance around and be silly which they did a lot of. At 10:00pm we put on a movie and all the kids sat on the couch or on the floor with pillows. They got to watch a movie on our large flat screen T.V. which they all said was awesome.

We had pizza but I also rented a frozen yogurt machine which was a big hit. I ordered a bunch of toppings.

All the girls stayed for a sleepover and they were up until about 2am!

The next day I had parents telling me that there is “There is NO party like their party!”

Seriously with that many kids I probably didn’t need to “plan” any games or anything. The kids made their own fun.
