11 Month Old - Bronchitis or Something Else?

My Son is 11 months old and 24 pounds. He had a very runny nose and a fever of 102.1. He could not sleep well for the first two nights. The fever subsided after a day, but the runny nose lasted for 11 days. A mild wet cough started on day two. The cough become really junky around day 8. He doesn't cough at night and he is sleeping fine now. He is eating and drinking well but he does seem more tired this week. He has been napping for about 2.5 hours in the am and 1.5 hours in the pm, (about an hour more than normal.) He is not having trouble breathing but when he is lying down his breaths sound thraspy until he coughs. His mucus is clear and he seems happy.
Do you think he has bronchitis, bronchiolitis, Pneumonia or a sinus infection?
He had bronchiolitis when he was 4 months old, but he was really having trouble breathing, his nostrils were flaring and his chest was sinking in. We took him to the ER. This seems nothing like that.
We are taking him in tomorrow, but if anyone has any ideas, i'd really appreciate it!
Thanks a lot!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for the helpful responses! Obviously no one can diagnose my baby on the internet! Of course my son's treatment won't be based on other mom's opinions! However, it is comforting to hear other mom's thoughtful perspectives and it relieved some stress before I took him in this morning.
The pediatrician said it's acute viral bronchitis. The mucus can be clear and still be bronchitis. She said it can take up to 14 days for it to clear up. He already seems better today, and only coughed twice this morning.

I have found that 'if symptoms persist for more than 7 days, take the child to a doctor' is a good rule of thumb.

K., no one here can diagnose your baby, only the doctor can do that. Anyone can take a "guess" but you gain nothing by those guesses and your baby wont' get treatment based on it, he wont' get treated til you go to that dr appointment.
I hope your little one is better soon

My oldest takes a very long time to clear a cough when he gets a cold. He could be coughing more at night then you realize even if its not waking you up it may wake him causing him to be a little more tired during the day. You could try propping up one side of the crib although it usually doesn't do any good at least with my kids it didn't they would just go down to the flat side.

Bronchitis would have a color to the mucus because of the infection.

I have a feeling it's either allergies (both of my kids have horrible coughing while draining) - or something viral like a cold.

I think you're doing the right thing by taking him to the pediatrician as few of us have the medical training to really offer solid advice. From my experience with 2 kids (2 and 4) in day care, my guess is you'll hear it's either allergies or a virus.

Good luck - hope he's better soon.

Possibly RSV which can lead to bronchitis...? My son had this months ago and it took a few weeks to have the cough clear up... good luck!

Saline nasal spray and a bulb nose sucker, cool mist humidifier, and elevate his bed. If she no long has a fever then it is most likely a cold. They can take 14 day on average to run there course.

K., my daughter suffered terrible colds last year. I invested in the nublizer. It is great. My mom used it too when she had gotten badly sick. It helps. My daughter doesn't know how to blow her nose unfortunately. Taking all the mucus out of her nose was and is tough. It feels like forever to get better to heal, and I remember carrying tissues around all the time. If you can get her to learn to blow her nose you're doing her and yourself a favor. My son learnt when he was about two.
Definitely go see a doctor. Get better soon...

give your son some ibuprofen. It will help with the inflammation that may be causing the mucus and cough. Then take him in tomorrow and have him listen to his chest.
