11 Month Old Baby Boy - Wets Thru Nighttime Diaper Every Night! Help!

My nephew has this problem. My sister-in-law puts his diaper on then a pair of rubber pants (like you use with cloth diapers), then his pajamas. This works well. His clothes are NEVER wet in the morning. Good Luck!

Are you using the right size of diapers, sometimes we think that a larger size will hold more but it is the opposite, the smaller one fits better and don't let the leak out.
I used diapers that I bought at Aldi, they were cheaper and the best I could find.

8 oz. at bedtime is the problem. Try and give that earlier so he has time to go potty before falling asleep and just give a small amount at bedtime. If you are afraid he will wake up hungry, give him some cereal at bedtime so his tummy stays full with maybe 2 oz of liquid. It will take a couple of days for his body to adjust but it should work.

Hi. I have a 2 year old boy who still wets through his diapers almost every night. We have begun to take his night time milk away now...the other thing that I do is to change his diaper before I go to bed. It is rare that he wets through when he has a fresh diaper about 10:30 pm. Hope that helps a little.

Sounds like he's getting to much liquid in the evening. You said one bottle before bed....but is he sippin' on a sippy cup all evening??

If you're having to put depends inserts in his diapers that sounds excessive to me. He has to be getting to much liquid to be putting that out.

Keep track for a couple of days exactly how much liquid he's getting and if you're still having those issues talk to your doctor.

could you maybe give him a smaller bottle at bedtime, or do a diaper change during the night with the room still dark?

My 18-month-old has always heavily wet his diapers at night, so we've perfected the art of changing him in the dark in his crib midway through the night without waking him up (and even if we do, he usually dozes off again within a minute because he's used to it). And he really hates to wake up with wet clothing; it's much harder to get him back to sleep after that happens. Although it's a drag getting up in the night to do this, it's less disruptive than having to change all his clothes, sheets, blankets, etc. without waking his brother, who sleeps in the same room. A small flashlight was helpful at first, but now we don't even bother with it. Good luck!

My nephew wets through his diaper a lot too. It did ease up when they cut his fluids closer to bedtime. I know that you don't want to do this, but it is worth a shot. Hope you find a solution!

S., my best advice would be to keep your son in the right size diaper for him...if it's too big it will definately leak! Positioning is a big thing for boys! If that pee-pee is up or sideways he will probably wind up wet! I have 2 boys, and went through a spell with the oldest like you are going through. We just had to make sure to get things pointing down and all tucked in good. And as far as his bottle...my 15 month old still nurses to sleep and at least once through the night, so I'm sure he's getting at least 8 oz, but doesn't leak through at all. Try different brands until you find one that works! (I've never heard anyone having luck with those inserts!!!!)

Maybe don't give the nighttime bottle so close to his bed time might help.

Have you tried the Huggies Supreme? Its what I found that works best for my son. What time is he having his last bottle? Maybe give it to him an hr or so before he goes to bed. If the diaper is to big or to small he will leak out. My son is in a 4 and he from time to time leaks out of them but for the most part his clothes stay somewhat dry.

I would try checking his diaper 2 hrs, after falling asleep, then 3 hrs, etc. until you find the time he has just wet then change his diaper. He may be going more than once during the night. If so maybe he won't have wet pj's any more. Also, try cutting back the last amount of milk by an ounce a week or give it to him earlier in the evening. As a dental hygienist I don't recommend giving him anything but water after you have brushed his teeth and also don't let him go to bed with a bottle.

we've had this problem with all three kids and i bought the Goodnight(s) brand diapers that are specifically for nighttime, they seem to work rather well. at 11 months, you might also be able to get away with changing his diaper while he sleeps. i check my two year old when i go to bed and if she's wet, i just change her and if she stirs she goes back to sleep. we did the same with my son and oldest daughter. good luck!

I agree that he is having too much to drink before bed. Maybe you should cut down on his bottle to 6 or even 4 ounces. My son usually drinks about 4 ounces of milk before bedtime and he hardly ever leaks through and we use the Parents Choice diapers. With my daughter we always had to use Pampers because she did seem to go a lot more and we did have occasions that she would leak out of other brands. We used the cruisers with her and they worked great.

My son was this way. He was always tall for example when he was almost 1 he was tall for a 2 yr. old. 2 he was tall for a 4 yr. old I had this problem, and you just have to change them at least once during the night. Some times there are little ones who just don't have a diaper made for them.

My son does the same thing, its not all the time, but its alot of the time. My advice to you is change him right before you put him down. Also, I use Pampers Baby Dry, and that seems to hold up very well. Hope this helps. Blessings!

Hi! I have 3 kids and all of them have done it. We used the rubber pants made for cloth diapers. We just put them on over the Huggies and it worked great. Then I just had to throw those in the wash.

Both of my youngest are(were) heavy wetters at night. My youngest is 3 and 1/2 and still soaks her diaper. I would suggest continuing to use the Huggies nightime diapers which I swear by. I would also put plastic pants on over the diaper. They are sometimes hard to find, but are generally close to the cloth diapers. My nephew is a heavy wetter and this seems to work for them as well. Another thought is to perhaps not go up a size in diapers which may be allowing for leakage unless of course your little one needs the bigger ones based on his size. I agree that 11 mos. is too young to take away the evening bottle. Good Luck!

I didn't have any luck with the name brand night time diapers with my boys. A number of generic brands worked better, so I used those. Unfortunately I can't remember their names anymore. Buy small packages until you find one that is more absorbant. You could also try putting a pair of plastic training pants over the nighttime diaper.

Try giving him his bottle an hour or two before bedtime and then put him to bed with a small sippy cup filled with water. All of my boys went to bed with them by 12 months and they did fine. They don't drink as much of the water and that gives them something in bed with them if they are thirsty.

Another option is setting the alarm to change his diaper a couple hours after you put him to bed. If he's dry then try an hour later the next night until you find out what time he is wetting. If you keep the lights low and stay quite he should go right back to sleep.

Have you tried the Huggies Overnights? We use those in a size larger than his normal day daiper and it seems to work. It is very full in the morning, and some days he still leaks - but most days/nights it holds. Good Luck!

We went through that around the same age. I just switched to the next higher size. We use Pampers and they seem to hold A LOT. I also make sure the diaper is pulled up higher in the front. I think you should give the pampers cruisers a try, I was never too impressed with Huggies and how much they held. That's just my opinion though. Hope that helps a little.

I have tried the night time Huggies and the night time Pullups, but I didn't like either. The night time Pullups didn't seem any better than the day time ones, and the Huggies leaked as much as the Luvs I used.

In fact, Luvs have always worked best for us. One thing to try is to double up on the diapers. Put on his regular size, and then one that is one or two sizes bigger. With my 2 1/2 year old, I put on his regular diaper and then a pull up that is one size to big. (His diapers just sag or something and they end up leaking if I don't double up.)

My 18 month old used to do this occasionally, so I switched to Huggies Overnights. It seemed to be working until about 2 weeks ago. He started peeing out his diaper every night since then, and sometimes at nap time too! He always drinks some milk before bed, so I've backed the time up of that, hoping that would help, but it hasn't. I'm going to try going up a size on the diapers AND buy some plastic covers. I feel your pain, I know it can't be comfy sleeping in we jammies and wet sheets. And washing sheets constantly (as well as his blanket that he is ATTACHED to) is getting old. My 3 year old has always been and still is this way! She is potty-trained during the day now, but still goes every 30 minutes usually! So nighttime has been hard. I swear by the Huggies Nighttime diapers as well. We bumped her up to the next size as well. And she didn't seem to leak as much. However, we have had times where we have used the plastic pants over it. You can find them at Babies R Us - they are hard to find anywhere else. They make them now with some absorption material inside, so you won't find a puddle when you take it off. It's such a pain to have to wash and change sheets all the time! Good Luck!

Try the brand "GOODNITES" they sell them by the pullups at walmart or target.

We found that pullups overnight almost always leaked, so we bought regular diapers for nighttime and didn't have very many problems. We liked Pampers Cruisers for my son who was thin, and Huggies seem to work better for my daughter who is a chubbier baby.
