11 Days Late
Hello ,
I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it takes for a pregnancy test to show up positive. I am 11 days late today and the month is almost over and i never skip a month. Now I did have a miscarrage in February and i was so sad and then i found out that i had HPV. So i had to have Surgery on May 3rd so that was a set back on the baby making. Now my due date just past on the 22nd and i was a mess so if i was pregnant i would be so happy.Well please say a prayer for me and i will keep everyone posted on what happens. I also have a doctor appt on the 4th about my HPV and i hope that it is still gone and doesn't turn cancerous.
Thanks H.

I was able to test positive on a home test after just a few days late. It doesn't matter how faint the line, a line in that second window is positive. So go ahead and test.
Hoping all is well with the HPV. Sorry to hear about the miscarriage. The stress about the due date passing could be making you late as well.

My doctor told me to take a test 8 to 10 days after my missed period! So go right ahead and take that test! Good Luck! I'll be rooting for you!

HUGS! on the HPV!
Regarding pregnancy tests...I had one test positive at 4 days *before* my period was due 8 years ago (DD is now 7 and a few months...). It was a faint line--such that I wondered if I was imagining things...but it was a line... My understanding is that they are even more sensitive now, so I would encourage you to get a test and try it out.
Do keep in mind though that stress can delay your ovulation, which will in turn delay your period. 11 days would be a lot...but I know that for me this cycle, my ovulation was delayed 5 days because we are dealing with some stressful stuff.
Good luck!

Hi H.....
I know with my personal experience it took awhile for the positive to show up on the pregnancy test. In fact, I was 15 days late with my period until it showed (I had taken 5 tests prior and all showed up negative). So I guess what I am trying to say that it is POSSIBLE that you are pregnant. However, there could be other reasons why you haven't gotten your period...stress, especially with you going throught the HPV thing. You can always ask your doctor for a pregnancy test while you are there at your appointment. It doesn't take but two minutes to do. Good luck with everything and let us know what happens! I will for sure pray for you!

H.,
Hi there. I'm J., and mommy to three boys with #4 on the way. (think pink) Anyway, to answer your question, a home pregnancy test can show up positive as many as four days before you expect your period according to the package labeling. Now the percentage of women who actually get a positive on that day is only like 54% and it increases by 10-15% every day after that with 99.9% of women getting a positive result on the day that they expect a period. FYI, I actually got a positive six days before I expected my period, but I have friends who have gone 2-3 weeks before they got positive results. Everyone is different. However I'd think that you should most likely be getting a positve result by now or within a few days. I'll be thinking of you. Good luck!
J.

I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage.
My midwife told me that if you don't test postitive by 3 weeks after you think you concieved, it is very unlikely that you are pregnant. At the most, that would be aobut 2 weeks past the day you expect your period (as long as your cycle is running it's normal course) I would definately talk to your doctor about it if nothing happens by then.
I hope all goes well with your HPV and trying to concieve.

H. a pregnancy test can show positive the day after you are scheduled to start your period. If you test that early I would recommend you take another a week late. I recently found out I am eight weeks along. I did take a pregnancy test the day after my period was due and it did come back positive. The reason they say to wait at lest a week is that you could have an etopic pregnancy. Needless to say I took another test a week later and it came back positive too. Good luck!!! wish you all the best
