10 Month Old Tooth Chipped

the same thing happened to my son (he's 2 now) a few months ago. the dentist said he may have soft enamel and there's nothing really we can do about it now since those tooth buds were formed in utero. she said just watch it and if it chips more to bring him back in, but so far, he hasn't had any more.

My understanding is that too much floride makes the teeth and bones hard but brittle - and causes strange white spots on the teeth. I would look into getting a good water filter. And I understand also that fish oils can help reverse this condition.

Given how young she is, and how much time she has yet to use those baby teeth, your dentist may want to crown the ones that show weakness. (or simply crown them as they chip) I would consult with him/her immediately.

The down side to crowning baby teeth is that only the front 4, top, middle teeth are done in white. The rest are silver. I have a child with a mouth full of "shiny" teeth as he calls them. Luckily, his bottom front teeth remain strong, so you don't see so much silver.

I have an 11 month old son too and he has had the white spots on his 2 front teeth since they came in, at around 5 months. I have been concerned about what this was too. Glad I'm not the only one with the same concerns.

My son has something similar. It started as grayish spots and have turned brownish. We took him to a Pediatric dentist. I was told that they were probably initially an enamel defect that turned into decay! Now, we are looking at getting them capped. Take him to a pediatric dentist ASAP. They may be able to apply a sealent of some sort instead of caps if you get it taken care of soon. I wish I would have taken him in sooner. The process to place caps on a 12 month old is not gentle.

My daughter had the same problem, after taking her to the dentist I was informed that the enamal was thin in that area and would most likely chip it did. We ended up having some crowns done on them til she lost them at about 5-6.

Find a ped dentist in your town

You need to see a dentist- It might be cavity or enamel deformaty. We see a lot of children- so feel free to call if you need a dentist-

Maybe calcium deposits. I've always had these on two
of my teeth. I have been told they are not noticable
to others.

Call you family dentist and ask them what should be done or who you should see. Baby teeth are sometimes tempermental and steps need to be taken to prevent further damage to permanent teeth.
